                                                                          Jane

The day was just like any other. I went to school unnoticed, came home and made diner, then was beat. He had drunk a lot tonight, and he lost over $200 in a poker game. Naturally, he took his anger out on me He punched and kicked me until I passed out. When I woke up, I was still on the kitchen floor where he had left me. I was in a pool of my own blood.

In 3 hours, I would have to make them breakfast, and then go to school. So I tried to fall back asleep, and whether I fell asleep from just exhaustion, or lack of blood I don't know. But I just thank god I was able to wake up at all.

She never did tell the date of when she was writing, or what her fathers name was. I never told my "friends" what I had found. I was worried about what they would think of me. I was the king of the school, I couldn't let them see me reading a girls diary, and not wanting to use it as blackmail against her. I was a jerk back then. I read a little bit of her diary a day, and let me tell you in advance, it doesn't get any better.
