Saturday morning and Carmen was up bright and early. She was feeling really anxious about the letter so she decided to get up and jog to the nearby park and back home.
That should keep my mind occupied, she thought.
Double knotting her shoe laces she got up. Carmen put on her favourite playlist and exited her house. She didn't bother with keys because she knew her mum will be up by the time she arrives back home.
The sun was up and she smiled; feeling already a bit less nervous. The music in her ears and the beautiful sun helped as she started jogging towards the park that was just 5 blocks away from her parents house.
After running for what seemed like forever she took a turn left; heading to a small source of water there. But as she took the turn she didn't check if anybody was coming; and that somebody didn't check either.
The outcome was for the stranger to wrap his hands around Carmen's small waist and instead of her falling on the ground she fell on top of the stranger. He hit the ground and let out a groan. Carmen gasped and quickly looked up to thank/ apologise to the man.
All she saw though was Andy's smile. The one that made her shutter and blush. And she did exactly that.
"I'm so sorry Andy. I wasn't looking, I-I guess I wasn't paying attention" she said and silently cursed herself for not being able to speak nice and easily in front of him.
He was smiling all along and that only made Carmen turn into a deep tomato red color.
"It's okay" he easily said and Carmen nodded. She turned around after mumbling a goodbye; desperately wanting to get away from her embarrassment.
"Hey Carmen?" did she really heard that? Did he really called her name? Carmen wasn't sure. She answered either way.
"Y-yes?"
"What are you doing tonight?" Andy asked her. He wasn't sure about this. But in his eyes; Carmen was so beautiful and had so many mysteries. He wanted to know her. He wanted to fall for her not just have a crush on her.
"um...probably do something with Erica but if not I might just watch teen wolf on my laptop; even though I'm not really sure, Oh my god! I'm babbling, I'm so sorry, I just-"
"Great. Pick you up at 8" Andy said still smiling with how embarrassed she looked when she pressed her hand to her mouth to keep herself from talking.
"Uh...um..okay" Carmen mumbled and looked down. Andy chuckled and jogged away and Carmen just stood there admiring the way the muscles on his back moved when he ran and mostly his butt.
Newsflash boys. Girls do that too.
After drinking some water she half jogged/ half walked back home where she saw Wren; the mail man approaching. She waited by the door.
"Good morning Carmen. How are you today?" he asked nicely. Carmen smiled at him and told him that she was fine as he gave her two envelopes.
Probably recipes for her mum from dad's sister.
Carmen waved goodbye to the mail man and looked at the first letter. As he had suspected it was a letter from dad's sister to her mum. She knocked on the door and her sleepy looking mum opened the door and let her in.
She left her mother's letter on the counter for her and checked the next one.
It said Michael Clifford.
Carmen jumped happily. He replied.
