(Val's POV)

I woke up tangled in the sheets with Audrey pressed up against me. She had one leg thrown over mine and her arm thrown over my abdomen.

It's been a week since her and Ruby learned the truth and they're still here. They no longer sleep in the guest room. Ruby stays with Enzo and Audrey stays with me.

We went out to dinner with mom, dad, and Isabella and they love the girls. Isabella especially loves them. She's invited them over for a sleepover this weekend. We are invited too but we have to stay in our room.

Tonight, we are having dinner at the house. It'll be the first time we've brought girls home and mom is ecstatic. Dad said that she's having Macy and Stefano running all the over the house getting things cleaned up ready. Doesn't make sense to me considering the house is always spotless anyways.

"What are you thinking about so hard?" I heard  a sweet voice ask me.

I looked down to see Audrey staring back at me.

"Nothing important, Dolcezza." I said kissing her forehead.

"What time is it?"

"Ten past seven."

"What? Ruby and I are going to be late. I have to take a shower." She said jumping out of bed.

"Want me to join you?"

She blushed. "No, because we really will be late."

I joined her anyway and they were not late. They made with a minute left to spare.

They had class before Enzo and I, so were remained at the apartment. We were in the middle of eating breakfast when Enzo spoke.

"You think they can handle this life? Our life?"

"You saw their files. They've handled worse. Besides, we are going to protect them. Like dad protects mom."

"If they decide one day that they don't want to do it anymore? They don't want to be in this life anymore?"

I sighed. "Then we let them go. We do what's best for them. If they wake up one day and decide they can't do it anymore and they want to leave then we will help them."

"You'd really let her go? I've spent my whole life by your side watching girls throw themselves at you and you ignore them. I've never seen you throw yourself at a girl, let alone this fast. You're impulsive but not that impulsive."

"I'd Audrey decides that she doesn't want me or this then yeah, I'd let her go. I'd still keep an eye on her. As long she's happy then I'll be okay."

He gave me a grin. "You're just like dad. Whipped in no time."

I threw my toast at him. "Climb off your high horse, Lorenzo. I see the way you look at Ruby. Your time is coming."

We finished eating and getting ready before heading off for class. Class was almost over when my phone began to vibrate. It was a phone call.

It was Ruby.

I left the room and answered.

"Ruby? What's wrong?" I asked.

"It's Audrey. You need to come to the library. Girls bathroom on first floor."

"F*ck. We'll be right there."

I went back in, grabbed my bag, and told Enzo.
We both then made our way to the library.

I opened the door to the bathroom and instantly saw red.

"F*ck." Enzo muttered underneath his breath. "This is going to get ugly."

(Audrey's POV)

Ruby and I barely made it in time for class thanks to Val. Ruby didn't let me hear end of it on our way.

"Do you know what time dinner is tonight?" Ruby asked as we walked to the cafeteria for lunch.

"I think seven."

"Are you nervous?"

"Not really. We've been out to dinner with them before."

"But we've never been to their actual house."

"It'll be fun. I'm excited to see it. Remember, Juliet said they have a library and a garden."

"I forgot about that."

We ate lunch and then went our separate ways to class. We always go to the library once our classes are over to wait for each other. Ruby's classes finish before mine so she's always waiting on me.

I was on my way over to meet her when someone grabbed my arm. I turned to see that it was Andrew.

"Let go." I said trying to yank my arm free.

"I just want to talk." He said.

I looked behind him to see three of his friends.

"I suppose they're here for moral support."

"Five minutes. That's all I need." He said.

I shook my head. "I don't think so. I have to go."

I tried to get away but he gripped me harder.

"Let me go, Andrew."

He roughly dragged me to an area out of sight from other and I instantly started to panic.

"I was trying to be nice." He growled slamming me against the wall.

I didn't notice that he had pulled out his knife until it was too late. He pressed it against my neck and I froze.

"I'll listen." I said. "I'll listen to what you want to say."

He shook his head. "Too late for that. Here's what's going to happen. You're going to calmly come with me and my friends and I won't hurt you."

"Where are we going to go?" I asked.

"We're going to go away. You and I are going to go far away where Bianchi will never find you. Then I'm going to come back and kill him."

In that moment, my fight-or-flight instinct kicked in and my adrenaline was high. I reached up, grabbed the knife, and brought my knee up to his crotch as I pulled the knife away.

He cursed as he fell to floor. I went to run past him but he grabbed my ankle and I hit the floor. I hit my head on the floor. Hard.

That didn't stop me. I couldn't afford it to. I kicked him in the face before getting up and running. His friends were to slow to catch me and I was soon in the library.

"Oh my gosh." Ruby said when she saw me. "Come on."

We went to the bathroom and she helped me get cleaned up. My hands had cuts on them where I grabbed the knife and I had a small cut on my head from where I hit it.

"You'll be okay."

"Val. I want Val." I said as tears rolled down my cheeks.

"I'll call him." She said.

He arrived within minutes and when he walked in I saw it on his face. I saw the anger and the rage surface and I knew. I knew that he was going to go after Andrew now and no one could stop him.

Andrew was going to meet the son of Il Diavolo.
