papa, can i die?

maybe a day will come when
the usual sticky notes to remind
someone of silly things will stay
the way they are for reminder.

maybe one night you won't find
the usual night girl sitting wide-
eyed, reading a book or maybe
preparing for the next day's exam.

surely a time will come when you
won't have to stay back in house
because your daughter didn't want
to go to a party or a family fun picnic.

"papa, can i die?" - something for which
i would not able to ask your permission
because even if i don't bring the trophys
and medals frequently, you won't allow
oh, but life never ends with a permission.

maybe a day will come when only
you have to worry about the little
daughter and not the elder one
who gave you so much stress, dad.

maybe one night you won't find
a door of your house locked 'cause
the one who lived in it wanted to
be free as a bird with nobody to see.

surely a time will come when you
wont have to worry about all the
money you had to save for the girl
who wanted to be someone no one was.

"papa, can i die?" - oh, i had asked you
in your nightmare, a terrible permission
but you were helpless and you will be
if life decides to take me away before you
death does not and will not ask for permission.

no, i won't ask for that permission...
