Martha went to the bathroom
while Carl was in the kitchen.Martha put the glass of wine on the windowsill, above the the sink.
She looked into the mirror, and put both of her hands on the edge of the sink.A tear ran down her cheek.
Then another tear came,
It was too much, she sobbed, and looked down from the mirror to face the sink.
More tears came, it was like they'd never stop coming.
"Why are you crying?"
Martha quickly wiped away her tears.
She turned around to see who said that, of course it was her, it was Death.
Death was sitting there, in the bathtub that was full of water, while she was fully-clothed.
"No, no, no..I'm fine" Martha replied
"I'm just having a bath," Death said innocently.
"I heard it relaxes people" Death added
She looked up at Martha and smiled.
"Did you guys break up?" Death asked
"Uhm...yeah" Martha nodded
Carl and Martha broke about a month ago now, there was no reason that Carl knew of, Martha broke up with him.
"How do you kn~"
"I'm sorry" Death interrupted
"That really sucks"
"No one wants to die alone" Death added
Martha was a little annoyed by Deaths statement, she believed the opposite.
"Well I'm still young, I have plenty of time" Martha said
She knew her own words were empty.
Death smiled at her.
"You don't believe that?" She laughed
Martha looked down to the floor.
Death took a sip of her wine
"Eurgh, that's disgusting" Death stated
She spat it out into the bath water.
"Why do people drink this?"
"Well, some people drink it because it gets them drunk" Martha replied
"That's Good right? Shall I drink some more?" Death asked
"No, no! You don't have to drink it if you don't like it" Martha explained
Martha took the wine glass and put it on the windowsill next to hers.
"Why do you like their earlier music?" Death asked
"Sorry, what?" Martha asked
"The Beatles" Death answered
"Oh, uhm. I guess it was happier, it was less serious, less jaded, they got more political towards the end." Martha explained
"It's more useful, like they have more things to look forward to" Martha added
"To look forward to their later music?" Death asked
Martha never thought about it like that, but she thought Death was right.
"Yeah, I suppose so." Martha said
"Honestly, I'd like to think they never broke up" Martha added
"If you don't mind, just out of interest why were you going to shoot Ringo? Our dog, Ringo?" Martha asked
"I don't know...I was having a rough day at work"
"I'm starting to think I should get a career change" Death said
"Wait what career is that?" Martha asked
"Killing people, killing everyone" Death replied
"Right, sure"
"It's just not fun anymore" Death said
"I mean what's the point, what's the point in cutting people's lives short."
"That just sucks" Death added
"Yeah, yeah it does" Martha mumbled
"I'm the worst"
