Beneath the sky, above the ground
Two children lay side by side.
They talk of many things,
Things only children know of.Beneath the moon, above the grass
Two friends sit side by side.
They whisper about many things,
Things only friends can whisper about.Beneath the covers, above the bed
Two lovers rest side by side.
They speak of many things,
Things to do with lust and love.Beneath the cross, above the crowd
Two betrothed stand side by side.
They declare many things,
Things that promise eternal love.Beneath the roof, above the floor
Two parents learn side by side.
They argue about many things,
Things parents always argue about.Beneath the mobile, above the cradle
Two grandparents guard side by side.
They sing of many things,
Things found only in lullabies.Beneath the stone, above the soil
Two souls are buried side by side.
They smile about many things,
Things that will love and never die.Beneath the sky, above the ground
Two children lay side by side.====================================================
