The New Arrivals

Chapter 8

The next day, the whole family went down to the county fair with their dogs to have some fun. There was food, rides, games, everything. 

"It was like my favorite day of the year. They had this roller coaster. The Pippin, I loved it" George told the family of the joyous times he had as a kid at the fair. 

"Going to the fair sure can be fun" Jacob mentioned.   

"These French fries are fantastic! I'm gonna get some more" George said, enjoying his french fries. 

"George, if you keep eating you're gonna explode" Jane said to him, over-exaggerating a bit.  

"Yeah honey, aren't you full after that breakfast?" Alice asked her husband in a slight bit of concern. 

"Hey, It's a vacation" George replied. "You're supposed to pig out" 

"He has a point there" Teeders whispered to the other adventure kids.  

"He's pigging out more than Beethoven" Ann commented. 

George suddenly shouted out as he pointed to more food areas. "Alice, Fudge!"

"Slow down, George" Walter told the eagerly hungry man. 

"Can I go on some of the rides?" Emily asked. 

"Sure" Alice said. "Ted, will you take her?"

"Oh, sure, but I need some money" Ted said. 

Alice then gave her son a few dollars while George reminded them to stay together. The whole family then went off their separate ways to have their own fun at the fair. 

Meanwhile, what our favorite st bernard and his friends didn't know was that Regina had just arrived at the fair with her lackeys. And Missy was in the back of the car.  

"Well, we're here" Ramona said, eager to win some of those expensive prizes. 

"Should we leave the dog?" Floyd asked.  

"We won't be that long. She'll be fine" Regina replied and they went off. 

David was trying to impress Cynthia with the test your strength game but failed miserably, getting no higher than 'Mama's boy'. 

"And only 3 weeks at gym camp" Cynthia said sarcastically about David, staring into the fourth wall. 

Ted surprisingly ran into that girl he liked again and this time was able to impress her after he and Beethoven helped get her tickets back from some bullies. Ryce had also run into Seth again and started having new found feelings for him, thinking she could give this guy a shot.  

Kali was with the twins and their dalmatians when they found this very interesting looking contest where people could enter with their dogs. The siblings looked to each other and got an idea then came up to the registration desk. 

"Two to enter please" Kali told the man at the desk. 

"Okay" the man at the desk got out a pencil and started writing on a list of paper. "Names?" he asked. 

"George Newton and Beethoven" The tomboy teen with the yellow bandanna replied.  

Elsewhere, the kids found George at the food court chowing down, telling him they entered him in this contest. George quickly refused, saying he couldn't possible do anything physical right now. But the kids told him all he had to do was sit there and Beethoven was going to help him out, then they dragged the grown man off to get ready for the contest. 

"What kind of contest is it where you just sit there?" George asked, puzzled.

"And now, teaming man and man's best friend... our seventh annual Burger Binge!" a male host announced.
