The kids were relieved that the puppies were starting to eat by themselves. Which meant for the kids, they could FINALLY get some decent sleep from all those tireless nights of feeding the puppies.
The Harpercop twins had just come home from school as they entered the front door of their house, looking more sleep deprived then usual. Jane noticed the twins drowsiness.
"Whoa, it's early to bed for you two tonight" she told them.
"Okay" the twins said, not even arguing back.
The Harpercop family had been invited over to the Newtons house for dinner that night while George had something important to tell everyone.
Jane, Walter, and Alice meanwhile had been noticing their kids odd behavior for the past few weeks and wanted to get to the bottom of it.
Kali was upstairs in her room studying for a school project, when she heard a knock on her door.
"Come on in" She said, not looking up from her papers.
Jane then slowly opened the door and entered her daughter's room. "Hi..."
"Hi" Kali looked up from her papers, smiling as she greeted her mother.
"I've been getting a lot of calls from your teachers lately" Jane noticed, getting right to the point.
This made Kali's smile quickly change to a small frown.
"Is there anything you want to talk about, sweetie?" Jane came over to her daughter.
"Uh... No" Kali replied nervously. She was starting to sweat.
"No? Oh come on, honey" Jane encouraged her oldest child. "You know you can always tell me anything"
The tomboy nervously hesitated to say anything before she finally got the courage to start with... "Mom, remember the dalmatian 101 incident?" she mentioned the time back when way too many of the 101 dalmatians moved in with them.
"Are you saying we're getting more dogs?" Jane guessed.
"Well... not exactly..." Kali slowly began.
"Kalina, spit it out!" Jane raised her voice a little, calling her daughter by her full first name.
The adventure girl soon sighed, knowing now had to be the right time to confess to her parents that the twins, Newton kids, and herself had been hiding Beethoven's four puppies in the Newtons basement.
Once Kali had told them, all her parents had to say was... "Don't tell Mr Newton"
Later, the Harpercops had come over for dinner at the Newtons house. Kali even brought Lucky and his siblings over to hang out with Beethoven. Alice had had a similar talk with Ryce earlier and now knew about the puppies as well as Jane and Walter.
Everyone was sitting at the table eating dinner while George was discussing his success at work today.
"Now, now, now, on another front, this is a big one" George explained to the two families. "Due to a special request from Alice... I have found the perfect vacation spot for a family with a limited cash flow"
"Our Velcro supplier, Fred Serbiak has been offering us his cottage in the mountains for years. Well, it's empty this Fourth of July, and since you have told me that there'll be no business this Fourth of July, I said yes"
"So, this Fourth of July... we are going to spend four fun-filled days at Fred Serbiak's mountain getaway absolutely free!" George announced to everyone.
Both families got very excited, thinking this was some of the best news they've ever heard.
"Now Fred was a little concerned that we had a dog... but I said our guy wouldn't be any trouble" George added, then looked down at Beethoven. "Isn't that right, you little Chihuahua, you?"
