[Alexys Rivera-First Person]
It happens once a year. A holiday, you could call it. Except, it was neither joyful nor historical.
If anything, this was horrible waste of calendar space. Why the hell would the government even think of this? It was the worst thing that could ever happen to anyone.
Imagining someone out there, losing a family member.
People would be left out on the streets, left dead.
Some do it for revenge, some do it for the hell of it, and some just try to survive, like me and everyone I know.
Some people are just messed up in this world.
They call it The Purge.
The laws were:
1) All crime, including murder is legal for twelve hours straight. It starts at 7 P.M. and ends at 7 A.M.
2) All weapons such as grenades, bombs, are prohibited.
3) All government officials that are rank 10 or above, couldn't be murdered, harmed or injured in any way.
4) All emergency services (i.e. the police and the hospital) would be suspended for twelve hours
I've been able to survive twenty-six years of this living hell. Sadly, my parents could not survive past my twentieth year.
I only have my two younger sisters, Tiffany and Lauren, as well as, twin brother Christian left and I don't want to lose them.
My name is Alexys Rivera. This year, I know would probably be the last year of my safety. I was going to try to make this year the last year of the purge. Or maybe just my last purge.
A/N: This is a small prologue of this book.
I've been wanting to do this for a long time because when I read one of the novels for The Purge: Anarchy, I got inspired.
It won't be very long (maybe around fifteen chapters) and there will be a sequel.
Also, I know Melanie and Ian broke up but in this book, they're still together. Also, Pete only has one child in this book, and that's Bronx.
It would just make it more sad if I put Saint in.
