The next thing I knew Kayleigh grabbed her purse and pushed through Lorain, Kelson, and Dillion into the hallway. I looked at her, then Will, then my three friends, who were wearing evil grins. I was still in shock from the words Will had just said. All my years of knowing him I never liked him, sure he had liked me up to seventh grade but I guess he decided to give up after so long. I thought back to a quote I saw on some wallpaper pictures on my IPod. Never give up on something you can't go a day without thinking about. Apparently that didn't apply to him. Ugh!! Why was I dwelling on the past? I needed to think positive.
I went over and sat on Will's bed he looked at me and I looked back at him. "Eww, were out! No one wants to see ya'll make out again. Trust me." Kelson said nodding toward the door. "No joke." Dillon said. I could have sworn I saw him check out Lorain's butt when she walked out.
I looked back at Will; he had the same look in his eyes. "Shai, I meant everything I said." Will said confirming my previous thoughts. I could feel my cheeks warm up and turn pink. That was everything I wanted to hear. Nothing else could make me happier. "We need to sleep some before surgery, lay down." He alleged. "Won't I get in trouble for sleeping in your bed?" I nervously asked. "Nah, you have been the last three days." He replied laughing.
I layed down on my side on the Tempripedic bed and closed my eyes. Will gently kissed my forehead and put his arm around me. What felt like a few minutes later I woke up suddenly. My eyes automatically drifted up to Will's. They were open. "You haven't slept?" I quietly asked. "No." He replied bluntly. "Why? You looked worried." I asked. "Well, I don't want to go through with the surgery." "Why?" I anxiously asked touching his chest. "There is too much of a risk for you." He said with a shaky voice. "No Will! I am. People do this all the time. There is no other way I am and that's settled." I said sealing it with a kiss. "I will be fine, you don't need to worry." I said rubbing his arm. He looked at me with weary eyes and nodded in defeat.
Finally Will closed his eyes and went to sleep, so I turned back over and did the same.
"Ms. Livingston...Ms. Livingston...wake up." The nurse said. "Get in your bed please we are about to start prepping for the surgery. Somehow Will heard and squeezed my hand before I got up and trudged to my bed. Where was everyone? Once again my thoughts were answered, and my mom, dad, and Lorain, Dillon, and Kelson walked in the room. The nurse walked out to go get my gown. Will shook hands with my dad and hugged my mom. Everyone exchanged hugs and wished us good luck.
I was starting to get sleepy as the nurse got me prepared to go into the surgery room. Dillon walked over to my bed and sat down. "Shia, promise me you'll be careful, I just don't want him to hurt you." He whispered. "He changed, I think." I whispered back. Dillon abruptly hugged me very extremely tight. Apparently he was nervous for me too, because I felt a tear drop fall on my shoulder. "It'll all be good Dill. I promise."
The nurse put her hands on the end of my bed to wheel me out, but will swiftly grabbed my hand, tears building up in his eye, and took my breath away. "Shia, I love you." He said half smiling, half about to cry. He had said that in front of everyone, even my dad. I jumped out of the bed and onto Will's and tenderly kissed him. "I love you too." I replied.
I once again hugged everyone and climbed up onto my bed and was pulled into the freezing surgery room. Dr. Beil started to administrate numbing medication into me. After about three minutes he told me to count down from 100. "100, 99, 98..." and I was out.
I woke up with a tingly feeling around my side, but it didn't hurt. I felt really crazy. "Oh look who woke up?" Dr. Beil said to my mom.
"Mommy I'm sooooo hungry, like the country, uh Mom are they okay? Mom they are starving. We gotta feed them!!!" I said starting to cry. Then I fell back asleep and awoke again to my mom laughing her butt off.
"Dillon, she's awake." My mom said out the hallway. A nervous Dillon slid through the door biting his lip. He didn't look at me.
"Dillon I look the same. You can't see the cuts or stitches."I said trying to calm him down.
"How many?" He asked
I looked up at my mom. "Twenty-five." She said. Dillon winced.
I opened my arms and he gently hugged me back, ensuring not to touch the incision.
"How's Will?" I asked.
"He's good. They are prepping him now if you wanna go see him." Dillon said.
"Dr.Beil can I go see him?" I asked sweetly.
"Yes, but you're going to have to be careful." He alleged.
I got up and my mom helped me into my wheelchair. When we got back in the room Will looked upset, but when he saw my face his face light up.
