Luke
I woke up to the blaring sound of my alarm and groaned loudly, punching the snooze button on top of it without even opening my eyes. It really feels like it should be Saturday.
I stretched and slowly sat up, throwing my legs over the side of the bed and rubbed my eyes. I looked at the clock and sighed, 7:01, maybe I won't be late today. I've been late almost everyday this week, I hate being late but I'm too lazy to really care that much. I finally dragged my feet across the hardwood floor into my bathroom and turned on the shower, undressed, and got in. I continued to wash my hair and everything else and after that I stood there for a good 20 seconds trying to completely wake up under the hot water.
Wake up, Luke, it's Friday and you have a game tonight.
Yeah, yeah, I know.
I turned the water off and grabbed the nearest clean towel, rubbed my hair and face, and wrapped it around my waist. I faced the mirror, wiping the fog that formed with my hand and as my eyes focused on my reflection; I screamed.
"WHAT THE HELL," I yelled and almost slipped backwards on the puddles of water on the tile floor.
"Oh, goodmorning to you, too." sarcastically mumbled one of the mini people sitting on my shoulder.
"Oh don't get your tail in a twist, he just woke up, I'm sure this is apart of the process." The other mini... thing said.
"Wha-" I started to say out loud but I heard my name being called from downstairs.
"Luke? Honey, are you alright? I thought I heard you yell?" My moms voice traveled all the way upstairs.
"N-no, yeah, I'm fine. I think," I mumbled the last part to myself, maybe I'm just really tired right now, I'm just seeing things. Or I'm dreaming.
I rubbed my eyes again and blinked several times turning towards the mirror again. I jumped. No, they're still there.
I reached up over my shoulder and tried to shoo them away but they just vanished and reappeared half a second later. Oh God, I'm losing it.
I reached my hand up and with all the force in my hand I slapped myself in the face. OW.
I opened my eyes and there they were again.
"Okay, I'm going to save you from completely bashing your head into the mirror, we-" the mini person pointed to himself and the other shoulder, "-are your conscience."
"Yes, you know you've heard of the devil and the angel on your shoulders, represents inner conflict, blah blah blah..." The little dude stood up and crosses his arms over his chest. He had black hair with little highlights of bright red with mini devil horns poking out. To accompany that, there was a tail with a sharp end and he was wearing a leather jacket over a black shirt and black skinny jeans. His ears were pierced and he had a smug smile on his face.
The other mini dude was wearing a blue denim jacket over a white shirt and black skinny jeans. he sat with his elbows on his knees and kind smile on his face. He had wings, yes, little angel wings. And he even had a glowing halo atop his curly, dirty blonde hair.
"Let me get this straight, my conscience has materialized itself into a mini devil and angel sitting on my shoulders?"
"Well, I wouldn't say 'materialized'," the mini angel said, "we're still only in you're mind, you and only you can see or hear us, obviously."
I shook my head in frustration and squeezed my eyes shut for a second. I'm really losing it how do i get rid of this. I open my eyes to look at my reflection again.
They were gone.
I sighed in relief, I'm just seeing things, and continued to try to get ready for school. I dried my hair in the dumb quiff everyone likes and brushed my teeth. Once I was done in the bathroom I stepped into my room and put on my black "vans" shirt and tight, black, skinny jeans. I checked my phone for any texts and Calum had texted me asking for a ride to school. I replied telling him I'd get him in a minute and started to put my phone in my front pocket.
We're still here.
I jumped at the sudden voice and dropped my phone on the floor.
We're in your mind you idiot, just because you can't see us doesn't mean you can't hear us. I could tell it was the little devil talking.
I sighed, sat on my bed, and ignored them putting on my shoes. If I ignore them enough they'll go away. I carefully tied my shoes and pinched the bridge of my nose as I heard the voice again.
My names Michael. the other guy, his name is Ashton, I can't get rid of him so it's a package deal, the devil said, it almost bothers me that I can't see them on my shoulders now.
I heard that, the other one deadpanned, and yes, we are a package deal but we're going to help you.
"I feel like this is the opposite of helping me," I mumbled under my breath and stood, grabbing my notebook and walked out my bedroom door.
