I froze and wondered what possibly the text message could say. Especially after what happened last night.
Or maybe it just says 'hey.' But I'm sure if she's trying to talk to me, it's not just casual conversation. It'll be something that I probably don't want to hear.
I rested my elbows on my knees and held my face in my hands. As much I want to talk to her, I don't want to talk to her right now about whatever she wants to talk about. Because, it won't end well.
I picked up my phone and weighed it in my hand for a moment before unlocking it and focusing in the message.
9/15/14 11:47 a.m.
From: Jade Lahey
Luke, I saw what happened at Adam's party last night. I know how you are and I wish you were better about it. But you need to calm down. Yes, me and Adam are talking again but honestly it's none of your business just stay out of it, it's for your own benefit.
I gripped my phone tighter in my hand and took a deep breath. She really has no idea how much of a jerk he is. She has no idea.
If I tell her, it's not like she'll believe me. What kind of nerve does she have texting me this now? She shouldn't have done anything at all.
But part of me is glad to see a recent text from her, no matter what the content is.
Just ignore the message, let her find out he's a jackass all by herself, Michael finally spoke up.
God, it's not like I want to see her get hurt, that's what I was trying to avoid while we were together.
Well, like you said, you can't tell her, she won't believe you.
Where's Ashton?
Not important
I rolled my eyes, what do I tell her? 'I know we broke up but your current boyfriend is a douche.'
Exactly, he scoffed.
This is so confusing, I need to tell her, someone needs to tell her.
She'll be okay, like she said, it's none of your business. If she gets her heart broken, it's not your fault.
He has a point, but then again it is my fault because I let it happen.
Stop being a baby, worry about yourself for a change.
I rolled my eyes again, that's what everyone expects I already do.
One less thing to worry about won't hurt you.
Screw it, he's right. And Jade's right, it's none of my business.
There ya go, it's about time. He sounded so full of himself.
I threw my phone on the other side of my bed and stood. I have to get this out of my head.

After a few hours of just doing random stuff to distract me I finally went to Calum's to see what he was doing.
Plus, I felt like I needed to apologize for blowing up last night and probably freAking him out.
I walked right in, because we treated each other's house like they were our own. We've known each other almost our whole life so we were just used to it.
"Hey Luke, how you feeling?" Calum was sitting on his couch playing some kind of video game.
"Alright I guess, still kind of frustrated," I ran my hand through my hair, sitting beside him and rested my elbows on my knees.
"Yeah," was all he said and I sighed.
"Sorry for kind of blowing up last night, and thanks for driving me home," I patted his shoulder.
"No problem, man, what are best friends for," he smiled with all his teeth but his gaze never left the TV.
I leaned back on the couch and closed my eyes before speaking again, "Jade texted me this morning."
I heard the sounds from the game stop and knew he paused it, "she texted you what?"
I opened my eyes and looked at him, "that her and Adam was 'none of my business' and that I should 'calm down'."
He shook his head, "you need to tell her that he's a dick and that he only likes himself."
I laughed humorlessly, "what's the use, she can just find out herself."
Calum quirked his eyebrow and and turned to me completely, "are you serious right now?"
"Yeah, I'm serious, she won't believe me. How am I, her ex, suppose to tell her her current... Whatever, was a jerk without trying to sound jealous," I scoffed and sat back up.
"Well, you could at least try, you've always said you don't want her to get hur-"
I cut him off, "yeah I know but she purposely cut me out of her life, so she obviously doesn't want me to care anymore, right?"
He shook his head and turned back to his game.
"What?"
"Nothing, you're in denial," he unpaused his game and continued playing.
I huffed and stood up from the couch and he didn't even look my way, "I'm not in denial."
Yeah, you are.
Ashton's back.
I grunted and walked out of Calum's house, even though I was there probably 5 minutes.
I don't have any escape from this, leave me alone.
You can't listen to Michael, you need to talk to Jade, Ashton stated.
I just can't.
And why not? Ashton retorted.
I just can't. Leave. Me. Alone.
Silence.
Thank god.

a/n: wow this was ridiculously short and im sorry updates are slow. im not the best writer obviously but the further i get into the story, the more the chapters get better and frequent.
so let me just kind of tell you whats going on so far in case you dont understand: so luke is considered popular but everyones made him out to be someone hes not. calum is his only friend that knows the real him. luke obviously developed something and now he hears his conscience (this fanfiction is obviously not meant to be realistic hes not schizophrenic) and sometimes sees them. before that adam and him never got along and adam is really competitive because luke became more popular than him and so when luke and his gf jade broke up adam went after her and she dated him and luke obviously hated that because he really liked/likes her. jade and luke broke up because luke had a bad temper and youll find out more about that later. MEANWHILE lukes consicence (michael and ashton) you know they obviously have a lot of conflict and ashton is genuinely trying to help luke, but michael is complicated. you'll obviously find more about that later. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS FEEL FREE TO ASK JUST PLEASE DONT BE RUDE. OK SO YEAH I HOPE THAT HELPS ILL GET BETTER I PROMISE I LOVE YOU SO MUCH THANK YOU FOR READING.
