Bar Mitzvah Buddies

"Cause indifference is a part of growing up."  Stanley Uris said when Richie and I showed up. Richies mother who had gone earlier to save us seats gave Richie a stern look only a mother could give. He smiled at her sheepishly before sitting down. We had come through a back entrance making sure not tomorrow disrupt Stan's speech. I smoothed down the ugly purple dress and watched as Stan Ignored his father. "Becoming an adult isn't about being able to vote or being able to drink or drive." He slowly started backing away from his father the microphone gripped tightly in his hand. "Being an adult, according to the holy scripture of Derry, is learning not to give a shit." Stan spit out yanking the microphone one last time before dropping it and leaving the synagogue. My mouth dropped open. Stanley Uris just did that. Little shy Stan.

Murmurs filled the crowd. His fathers face was speechless. Though an unseen anger was residing inside him.I felt Richies body move from beside me. Oh No I mentally groaned. He began clapping only to have his mother grab his arm and drag him back down.

"We should go after him." I whispered softly in Richies ear. He nodded grabbing my hand.

"Were gonna go." He told his mom. Before he waited for an answer he pulled me along with him.

Outside the hot sun shone down on us. A light breeze made the heat bearable.

"You can let go now." I smugly said gesturing to where Richies grip was tight on my wrist.

"Oh uh yeah." He coughed awkwardly letting go. I looked around the streets of Derry. A curly headed boy was sitting on a park bench licking an ice cream cone.

"Strawberry my favorite." I smiled walking over to him.

"Oh h-hey." Stan stuttered awkwardly.

"Hey bud." Richie smiled sliding next to him. "Dude that was so rad like you should have seen there faces." Richie gushed. I smiled sitting down next to Stan on the other side of bench.

"Really?" Stan asked awkwardly scratching the back of his neck.

"Yeah. That was the bravest thing I've ever seen you do." I told him stealing his cone.

"Hey-" He started before letting it go. I happily licked his cone.

"What I was hungry." I shrugged. He sighed but smiled.

"Hey you guys wanna do something I know my dad is not going to let me have a party."

"Why not." I smiled finishing  off his cone. "But first do you have any girl clothes I could borrow. Uh the Toziers, really Richie don't have the best fashion taste." Richie opened his mouth to speak but opted for a scoff.

"Yeah my sisters at college."

"Come on lets go then." I said walking away from the bench.

"Bossy much." Richie muttered under his breath. I smirked tucking a piece of hair behind my ear.

  "What was that?"

  "Uh nothing." Richie called quickly.

"That's what I thought Richard."

"This will work." I said pulling out a pair of shorts and a Guns N' Roses T-Shirt. "Wow your sister really likes Guns N' Roses." I remarked observing her room. It was covered in band posters and albums were scattered around the room.

"Hey so do I!" Richie exclaimed reading the back of one of the Record Cases.

"Nice to know now can you guys please leave?" I asked. They nodded and left the room shutting the door behind them. I put on the clothing items on a out the wretched dress in a ball in my arms.

I could hear murmuring from outside the door. Curious, I pressed my ear to the door.

"You've got to tell her at some point Richie." I heard Stan tell Richie.

"I'm not going to tell her that her brothers dead Stan, I don't wanna hurt her." My mouth dropped open and tears welled up in my eyes. This summer I barley got to see him because I was always locked in my room but I couldn't believe it, my parents did it they killed him. Tears poured down my cheeks as I opened the door. Richie and Stan both jumped.

"When." I asked they both looked at me with blank expressions. "When did you find out." I spit out my jaw clenched tightly. Richie sighed.

"Last night." He replied sadly.

"It was all over the news." Stan murmured. My heart pounded in my chest.

"It was my parents wasn't it?" Again no answer. "Wasn't it." I asked louder anger pulsing through me.

"Val calm down."Richie said placing a hand on my shoulder. I shrugged him off.

"I can't, my brothers dead and it's all my fault," I started shaking, "If I hadn't left then none of this would have happened. James would be alive." I fell to the ground uncontrollable sobs wracking my body.  My breathing was as heavy as my heart. My parents were monsters that destroyed everything in there path.

"Val please your scaring us!"Stan cried. I couldn't stop I tried taking deep breaths in and out but nothing was working.  I felt a pair of arms wrap around me. I glanced up and saw Richie holding me close to him. My heart rate slowed down as he and Stan both hugged me. My breath still came out in short gasps and tears still dribbled down my cheeks but I felt safer then I had ever had.

"Your gonna be okay Val okay, everything will be fine." Richies voice said softly before I fell asleep, head resting on his chest and Stans hand gripped tightly in my own.

A/n okay okay do not get made because "when the OC is having a panic attack the love interest can't  calm them down." But ya know what comfort from a person always helps my panic attacks so I put it in. Also in the past two chapters we've got some richalerie
