Draco x male!reader part 4 (Harry Potter)

"Excuse me please, coming through!" Y/ N calls through the crowded hallway as he spot Draco's hair on the other side. Whispers erupt around him as he walks towards Draco. Putting an arm around his shoulders, Y/N grins as Draco turns to face him. "You alright mate?" He asks, and Draco rolls his eyes, but Y/N can see traces of a smile on his face.

School had been in session for a few weeks, and yet people were still surprised to see Y/N and Malfoy near each other so often. Y/N barely interacted with his Housemates anymore, favouring Draco's company over theirs.

"Y/N, we have class." Draco says just loud enough for him to hear. He groans theatrically, holding a hand up to his face. "Alas, we do. The dreaded Potions class that I never decided to drop for some reason. Lead the way Draco." Y/N pretends not see the happiness flash through the Malfoy's eyes when he heard his first name, letting Draco hold onto his hand as he walks with him to the dungeons.

Once they reach the dungeons, the two see Granger, Weasley and Potter standing outside of the Potions classroom, along with a few other students. "Y/L/N, Malfoy." Potter nods in greeting, and Y/N smiles slightly at the Boy Who Lived. He feels Draco go still beside him and squeezes the hand he is still holding. He waits until Draco squeezed back before speaking. "It's okay Draco. Everything is going to be fine."

The door to the potions classroom opens and the students walk inside, taking their seats. Draco and Y/N sit at the very back of the classroom, to avoid any curious stares. To Draco's dismay, Granger decides to abandon her usual seat and sits at the table in front of the two boys. Y/N watches as Potter shoots Granger a confused look that she waves off. Halfway through the lesson Granger turns around to look at them. "Are you two dating?" She asks quietly, and Draco blushes, shaking his head. "No Granger, we aren't." Y/N raises an eyebrow at her in question, but Granger just turns back around in her seat.

Draco spends the rest of the lesson avoiding Y/N's eyes, and Y/N sits there confused for the remainder of the lesson. The peacefulness in their friendship had been torn apart by Granger's seemingly innocent question.
