Dakota's POV:

When the big ugly yellow bus pulled to a stop, I didn't even get annoyed that I was the only guy on the track team to not have a car, I was just so happy to get away from the rain.

As I was walking down the aisle, people were moving over and calling my name. I sat next to a girl with auburn hair and she smiled brightly. I just winked as I pulled on my headphones, and closed my eyes.

The bus ride felt like forever, and I was more than happy to breath air that didn't smell like some guy's dirty socks.

Just then some girl with a hoodie came crashing into me and I almost toppled over from the force.

"Whoa, you ok?" I caught her as I steadied myself, and the girl wiggled out of my hands and only muttered a quick 'sorry' before dashing into the entrance of our school.

I shook away the weird vibe that came off her and decided that I held up my fair share of traffic and kept walking.

Later during 4th period as I was roaming the halls with Adam, I saw a familiar hoodie at the fountain. As we passed by the hoodie girl, she looked up and cached my eye. Except who I saw is not who I expected to see. And I can only imagine my face as she stared at me, glaring. I quickly looked away, and I could not believe that I had bumped into Beth. She was gone for the whole 1st semester after her dad was found guilty for murder and was put in jail for who know's how long.

Adam looked at me, then back at Beth and gave me a questioning look. I ignored him and started talking about how school sucks. That seemed like all we talk about besides Adams many affairs. We seemed kind of distant lately but none of us has the balls to bring it up, so we side-step over it and do what we can. But then again, that's what everyone does these days. We just go around the hurt and try to forget the past. So, I guess we're not alone.
