I am the Luckiest Man (Lucas POV)

Riley - as usual - was right. My past brought me to her. It may have been filled with regret. But it got me to where I am today. It got me to be with the most beautiful, smart, & caring person that I have ever known. Texas is and will always be apart of me. It will always be apart of my past. But Riley Matthews is my present and future.

Riley was getting out the hospital today. I have a surprise for her when she gets a home. Maya and Farkle helped me out. When Riley got home we just watched movies in her living room. Later that day, Maya and Farkle left. Mr and Mrs Matthews were with Shawn and Katy. Auggie was with Ava and Dewy.

L- Riles I have a small surprise for you.
She looks up from the couch and gives me a smile.
R- o really?
L- yep. Follow me.

I helped her up from the couch. And lead her to her bedroom.

L- before you enter I need you to close your eyes.
R- ok, I trust you.

She closed her eyes, I opened the door and guided her inside.
R- can I open my eyes?

Before she opened her eyes, I walked over to the center of the room.

L- yes open them.

She opened her eyes. Surrounding her room were candles (a/n like the candles in the picture above. Imagine him putting them on her nightstand, desk, around the bay window, etc). The more she looked around her room the more her eyes would light up. This definitely took her by surprise.

R- Lucas...h....how....how did you do all of this? Why did you do all of this?

I moved closer to her. And put my arms around her. Wiping away the tears that were slowly falling from her beautiful eyes.

L- Maya, Farkle, and your mom helped me. We did it yesterday. As for why, I thought a lot about what you said back in the hospital. Yes I'm not proud of my past, but it brought me to you. It brought me to the most beautiful, kind, loving, funny, and so much more girl I've ever known. You are my everything. You are my light. You brighten my world.

She closed her eyes and leaned herself against me.

R- Lucas, this is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. I am so lucky to have you.

I couldn't help but smile & leaned myself against her.

L- I am the lucky one Riles. You have made me the luckiest man ever!

I am incredibly sorry for the long wait. Life has been kind of crazy. So hopefully you all like this chapter.
