Anger for Her

Hmmm...what's the best way to provoke a ninja? I stole glances of Gantetsu in class, and he was calm and still as the shadows. I couldn't read his expression at all. It was as if someone had took a stone and carved a face in it. He would only stare at our instructor who was continuing to teach some ninja technique. "Claude, do you know how to get an emotion out of Gantetsu?" I asked.

"Well, yes. It's quite obvious," he replied. He only got nerdier and nerdier as the year went by.

"What is it, then?"

"Insult him and his family."

Now, that sounded like a death wish. Insulting a family or a Sect could cause a war. I would just have to stick with him. "Gantetsu, have you ever beaten an amateur? Because there's no way you're going to be the Sect Master," I said to him. But instead of a quick comeback, he looked at me with the coldest eyes I have ever seen. Those brown eyes stared right into my soul.

"Natalia, please settle down," the instructor sighed. I just offered her a small smile and she sighed and went back to teaching.

"Okay Claude, that didn't go so well. Anything that he is very protective of?" I asked.

"Maybe do something to Sakura. Gantetsu had an eye on her ever since he got here. Look, there, he's talking to her again!"

I glanced at them to see that Sakura was giggling slightly while Gantetsu was smiling at her. That was the first time I had seen such adoration in his face. I could imagine everyone else in the room giving her a jealous face. I had to resist to become one of the fan club. When the class ended, I snuck up to Sakura while Gantetsu was talking to one of the students.

"Sakura, how would you like to be the victim of my latest technique," I said, while I drew a knife. Sakura didn't even have time to get out her fans before I was about to slice her arm. Of course, I wasn't going to do any damage, but a katana came out of nowhere and blocked my attack.

"Do not ever threaten Sakura," said Gantetsu, getting a fighting stance. Sakura, too, drew her fans. They weren't the small kind of hand fan. They were almost as long as her arm and had ancient inscriptions drawn on the fine blue silk. I could see the tips were beginning to flicker with ghostly blue fire.

"Well, if you want to fight me, one-on-one, see me. Behind the cherry blossom gardens, in the forest at the next full moon," I said, walking away. I could see that Sakura was nodding her head to Gantetsu.

"Well, that wasn't all a waste of time," I said, sharpening my knife and getting out my armor. The full moon was two days from now, and I had to get ready to meet the attacks of my soulmate.
