Caroline's POV
This cafe was my go-to cafe when I was just wanting to get out of the house. It was for the days when there was absolutely no rush in my day.
It was peace.
Except for today.
I walked into the cafe and placed my regular order of Earl Grey tea and a slice of pecan pie. As I placed my order, I felt the tell-tale feel of someone staring at me. I sat down at an empty table near the window and inconspicuously scanned the place before my eyes landed on the last people I ever thought I'd see again.
Natalie and Jordan. My ex-husband and ex-best friend who cheated and started a whole family behind my back. The two people who painted me out to be a crazy she-devil when they are the ones who completely shattered my trust.
I stood up from my seat as my order was called at the front, grabbed my drink and pie and walked over to where Natalie and Jordan looked extremely uncomfortable. I basked in the power my simple presence had on their moods.
"Hello Natalie, Jordan. How are you?" Natalie at least had the decency to look guilty and not look me straight in my eye, while Jordan stared at me like he'd seen a ghost. Jordan was first to break the silence.
"Hello, Caroline. You look good." I smiled politely because I know I looked good. Not to be conceited, but my hair and skin glowed due to pregnancy, and my bump sat high on my petite body.
"Thank you." I didn't bother to tell them that they looked good, although they did. Natalie's body was shaped beautifully after having as many kids as she's has and Jordan looked like he might have bulked up a little bit.
"How has life been for you?" This came from Natalie now. Before I could answer, I felt a hand wrap around my waist.
"Hi, manamea." I felt a kiss on my cheek and I smiled up at Duke. His dark brown eyes sparkled as he stared down at me. "Introduce me to your friends?" His tone was slightly condescending as he'd already pieced together that these were the people who left me at rock bottom.
"To answer your question, my life has been good. Meet Duke, my husband." The surprise in their eyes didn't get past me and I watched as Jordan's eyes darted to my left hand. I was proud of the large teardrop shaped diamond and gold wedding band I sported. Natalie's eyes did the opposite to look at Duke's left hand, which sported a matching gold band that was lined in diamonds.
"Wow, congratulations." I didn't answer. I instead grabbed Duke's hand and looked up at him.
"I think I would rather go spend the day with Gina and Leo. I know we were supposed to have a kid-free day, but I miss my baby." Duke chuckled. Gina, his sister, was babysitting our 2 year old for the day since she missed her nephew.
"I knew you wouldn't be able to stay away from him for long." Duke ran his fingers through his shoulder length wavy hair and I admired him, just loving the fact that he was mine. I heard a throat clear, but I didn't care if they felt uncomfortable. I turned back to the two, and put a calm smile on.
"You know, I thought about how this day would go when I met you guys again. Would I cry? Would I scream? Would I fight?" I noticed Natalie shift in her seat barely. "But you know, I think the best thing I can do is forgive you guys. You guys lied and cheated behind my back and left me at rock bottom. I can't even find the right words to describe how betrayed I felt. You know, but I'm glad you guys did this. Now I realize how trifling and disgusting you are Jordan, and I realize how sickening you are Natalie. I have surrounded myself with people who want the best for me and who don't hurt me the way you two did."
I looked at the expression of Natalie and Jordan. They both had similar expressions, a mix of guilt and anger. I turned to walk away with Duke, but I turned back quickly. "And you know Jordan, I'm glad we divorced. The way Duke holds me against walls and takes me, turns me on more than you ever could." I turn to Natalie now. "Enjoy your mediocre dick." I walked away as Duke's shoulders silently shook.
"You are so petty Mrs. Kakoa." I shrugged.
"I wanted to keep it classy, but the words kept spilling out. You know what let's go home instead of hanging with Gina and Leo. I love them, but I want to try out those handcuffs without muffling my moans."
"Your wish is my command manamea."

Hey guys, I tried to write a whole story for Caroline, but I couldn't find the motivation. So instead, I wrote a chapter of their encounter a few years after everything went down.
I hope you guys enjoyed it! I loved Caroline standing up for herself to them.
Also, imagine Jason Momoa as Duke
Manamea = sweetheart in Samoan
