We met Marc, Clay, Logan and Dennis in the waiting room. The looks on their faces were not encouraging at all.

“Hey, what’s going on?”

No one answered me. I stared at mum then stared back at the guys.

“Please, someone talk to me. Logan?” Logan stood up to give me a hug but I pushed him away. “Tell me what’s going on now.”

He frowned, “Hazel …”

“Please don’t Hazel me, just tell me what I need to know.”

‘Claire is sick.”

Oh gosh! Claire baby.

Dennis stood up and led me to a seat then he put his arm around me. “It’s okay, she’ll be fine.”

“Are you sure?”

“Of course I am. Don’t be sad.”

Mum sat beside me and put her hand over mine.

We were like that for some time, no one was saying anything.

Marc looked like he had been crying, Clay looked like he had rushed here just like I did, and Dennis looked terribly worried.

I wondered what kind of sickness Claire had. I was about to ask when a nurse walked up to us.

“Mr. Taylor?”

“Yes?” Dennis' response was too fast.

“Dr. Gilbert wants to see you.” She said then walked away.

He stood up with a snap then asked us to follow him.

“Really?” Clay asked.

“Yes.”

We made our way to the doctor’s office, Dennis knocked then the doctor called us inside.

Dennis and Marc sat down on the two seats available while Logan, Clay and I stood.

“Doctor, what’s the problem?” Dennis asked.

“Ehm…  Mr. Harmon, like I told your parents …”

“Please tell us what is wrong with my friend.” I pleaded.

Doctor Gilbert looked at me, then at Dennis, then at me again. He looked confused.

“Your friend, Claire has cancer?”

I froze.

What!!

I looked down at Marc and he was staring at me. I could see his eye, filled with pain.

He knew, gosh.

I looked at Logan and Clay. Clay had tears in his eyes and Logan just stood looking at the ground.

They all knew!!

I ran out of the office down the hall. I didn’t even realize I was crying until I felt the tears dripping on my cloth.

Okay, this is such a short chapter. I just don't want them to be too long and tiring 😊.

Happy new year everyone!!! Thanks to everyone reading my book, I'm entirely grateful.
