Ch. 20 Lost, Abandoned, or Reunited?

Kirstin POV
So Avi and I have been going on dates. And they have been amazing. He asked me to be his girlfriend and I said yes. He has even has Jordyn with us on our dates sometimes. And she loves it.
Plus, the band is happy for us. Everything is going so smooth.
Today the whole band is at my house and we are just hanging out. Then, we here the doorbell ring.

Kirstin: I'll get it.

I go to answer the door. I'm thinking that it's Esther, but it wasn't. It was a young girl, who looked like she was 21.

Kirstin: Hi, may I help you?
Lauren: Hi, my name is Lauren Davis. Are you Kirstin Maldonado?
Kirstin: Yes I am.
Lauren: I don't mean to intrude, but by any chance did you adopt this girl.

She shows me a picture and it's Jordyn.

Kirstin: Yes. I did. Why?

I'm getting worried.

Lauren: Is it okay if I come in? Because I think you may need to sit down for this.
Kirstin: O-Okay.

So she comes in and everyone is confused. Thankfully Jordyn is in her room. So we sat down and my heart is racing about what this woman is gonna tell me.

Kirstin: So what it is about Jordyn that you want to tell me?
Lauren: Well, I don't know how to put this, but ummmm.....Jordyn is my sister.
Everyone: What?!

I literally have no idea what to say.

Kevin: But how? She told us she was put in an orphanage when she was a baby. She told us she never knew about her parents.
Lauren: Well, that part is still true.
Scott: Hold on. I'm confused.
Lauren: Let me explain. Our mom who's name is Linda had me at a very young age with my dad and we lived in San Diego at that time. My dad isn't Jordyn's biological father. Which is a good thing he wasn't because he was abusive. My mom had an affair with someone else who was married and got pregnant with Jordyn. She got so scared that my dad would find out that she took me and ran off to San Francisco. She had Jordyn, but she didn't want my dad to found out about the baby so she has the baby put in an orphanage to keep her safe. She told me that she lost the baby at child birth and I believed that for a long time. Until a couple of weeks ago.
Avi: Well, what happened to your mom?
Lauren: She passed away last year. And as for my dad he is in jail.
Avi: I'm so sorry.
Mitch: Wait how did you find Jordyn?
Lauren: My aunt told me after my mom died that the baby my mom had was very much alive. But that she was in an orphanage. I knew I had to find her. So I did some digging. Asked almost every orphanage in the Bay Area trying to find her and they never knew Jordyn so I gave up. Until my aunt went to your show here in LA and when she saw Jordyn she could immediately recognize her. Took a picture of her and compared her to the other pictures I her.
Kevin: How did she get more pictures of how she looked?
Lauren: Apparently my mom stayed in contact with the orphanage here in LA that Jordyn was at. I thought she was in San Francisco. Since my mom didn't want to risk Jordyn getting hurt from my dad, she stayed lowkey and asked for pictures of her to keep knowing how she is doing.

So many thoughts are going through my head.

Avi: Kirstie, are you okay?
Kirstin: What?
Mitch: Are you okay?
Kirstin: Yeah. I'm fine. I'm just in shock.
Lauren: Look, if you think I'm here to take Jordyn away from you then you thought wrong.
Kirstin: Wait what?
Lauren: I'm not. I'm already married and I can see by you guys that you are taking extremely good care of her. I just want to see Jordyn and reconnect with her.

I had to think for a minute. This is a shock. I'm relieved that she's not gonna take Jordyn away from me. I love that little girl with all my heart.

Kirstin: Uh...what do you guys think?
Kevin: Honestly, it's up to you.
Avi: I agree. Go with your heart.
Scott: Yeah. You love Jordyn and we do too.
Mitch: Exactly. Plus, Lauren has been nice, honest, and open about what happened.

This is a lot of pressure. I really want to go and get Jordyn so bad. But if I keep this away from her, Jordyn will never forgive me.

Kirstin: I'll be right back.
Avi: Where you going?
Kirstin: I'm gonna get Jordyn.
Lauren: Really?
Kirstin: Yes. She's upstairs in her room. I love Jordyn. Plus, I can't keep this hidden from her. And she's only seven. So I don't know how she'll react. Give me a minute and I'll bring her down.
Lauren: Thank you so much.

I go upstairs to get Jordyn. I hope I'm doing the right thing.
