Ok sorry I took so long. Seriously apush is murder. Idk when my next update will be. Sorry for that too. And that lovely picture was taken from a conversation with a friend of mine. I blurred out their name
********************************************"Now then class, your next assignment for you to do an argumentative paper that is 4 pages long, 12 point font, Times New Roman, and double spaced," I tell my students making them all groan," Yes, I actually want you to work for once. But double spaced in four pages is the equivalent to two single spaced typed. I could always change my mind on the line spacing."
"Now what I want you to write about is the Phantom Thieves we have heard so much about lately," I tell them, immediately getting the classes attention," You get to choose your argument. For all I care you could argue that they are the equivalent of a potato as long as you have something to support it. That means check your facts and do real research. You have to make sure your argument is sound. Don't worry though, you'll have until Monday next week. This class period, I would like you to find your position on them, outline it, and do a little research. But this will be the only class period which you get to work on it so don't waste your time. I'm gonna grade some papers and if you need my help, you know where to find me." I notify them.
I walk behind my desk and take a seat, only to see a hand raised. "Yes, Makoto?"
She lowers her hand," Why didn't you tell us to write about if we view them as good or evil? That is what most teachers do." Makoto questioned.Smiling, I prop my feet up on the desk before responding," That's simple. Life is full of grays that the world doesn't tell you about. We all have our own set of morals and beliefs that not everyone shares. We all have different ideas for how to deal with things. I'm not going to limit you onto the broken record of right or wrong. So this is to help you learn how to back up whatever your ideas are. Any other questions?" I asked the class. No one raised their hands. Now to get grading.
I graded their tests from Friday while they wrote. A few asked for help with getting ideas but that didn't take too long. I told them to just look up some of their headlines and stories and see how they feel about them. Then make up an argument that they can back up, like why they should go to jail or not. I got most of the grading done before the bell rings. They all are packing their stuff up and setting ready to go home.
"Makoto, if you wouldn't mind I would like to pick your brain for a little while after class. Is that okay with you?" I ask whilst she puts on her backpack.
"Yes, Mr.L/n." She answers before sitting down.
The bell rings and everyone rushes out except for Makoto. I walk over to my door and close it. Turning towards my student, I walk in front of my desk and take a seat on it facing her.
"How have you been feeling lately? Honestly." I ask her. She looks at me taken aback with confusion."Mr-"
"Just Y/n after school hour please. I'm 23, not 80." I inform her.
"Sorry Y/n. So why would you hold me after class to ask about my well being?" She asked
"I'm curious how you feel. More specifically about my writing assignment. I think you are the person who would be effected the most as to what it is supposed to do." I hint, holding back a smile.
"I don't think I understand Y/n. Why would this pertain to me more than other students?" She says, pretending to be oblivious.
"Well I figured you would be concerned with others arguments seeing as you are a member of the Phantom Thieves. Or are you going to try to deny that?" I smirk a little. Her face glints worry before morphing into a determined expression.
"What do you want? What game are you playing?" She demands
"I was just wanting to let you know that I support your cause. That and I will try to help out every now and then. Let you know if any of the other teachers are getting suspicious or if you need someone to talk to. I can see you put a lot of stress on yourself after all. But I am still your teacher and will hold you to the same expectations as them." I tell her. Confusion swirls in her eyes as she looks at me with disbelief.
"Why? Why risk it? You have a life Mr-I mean Y/n. Why try to help us when it could get you into trouble?" Makoto murmurs
"I don't believe in bad people. But some give into sin and become tainted. They need someone to show them the right path," I answer ," Someone very dear to me became a bookie and drug dealer. They hurt people. They had let greed take over. They aren't evil. Just tainted. You help people. It's a worthy cause, and one that I wish to help."
"I'm sorry for what happened to your friend Y/n. Would you like me to try and help them as well? I can get the others to help too." She offered. I smiled bittersweetly.
"He's dead. My brother won't be hurting anyone anytime soon. And don't apologize or give your condolences, it wasn't your fault. He made his own choices. Now let's move away from the touchy feel-ey stuff. I guess you are free to go, unless you need something from me that is." I tell her.
"Wellll could we go to a coffee shop and talk? There's a few things we could use some help on with planning and there's this new place I wanted to try." Makoto looks down at her feet blushing.
"Well alright then. Try not to get embarrassed hanging around with an old man." I joke, holing out my arm to link with hers.
