Eli felt useless as Viktoriya and Vikenti walked around the hotel room, getting ready for some meeting at the Russian embassy. Viktoriya looked beautiful in a red and white striped top and tight black pants. Her hair and makeup was meticulously styled. Vikenti wore a suit Eli had helped him buy, and even had asked Eli for his opinion on which tie to wear.
“Are you sure you don’t want me to come?” Eli said, looking up from the couch in the main room. Viktoriya had helped Eli dress himself into a pair of jeans and sweater, though he needed more help with the pants than the shirt.
“No, I want you to rest.” She leaned down, to kiss him. Eli pulled her down into his lap, putting his arms around her. “Ilya, no! I don’t have time!”
“But you look so beautiful, and I love you so much.” He leaned up to kiss her. Viktoriya relented to kiss him back. She put her arms around his neck, toying with his hair. It was minutes before they finally parted their lips.
“Are you going to be okay alone in the room with her?” Viktoriya whispered into his ear.
“I’ll manage.” Eli replied, telepathically. “I think there’s a lot that needs to be said between us.”
“You’ll call me if you need anything?” She met his eyes, looking serious. Viktoriya ran her hand through his hair, toying with a curl at the back of his neck.
“Of course. But I’ll be fine. I’m just going to make a cup of tea and watch a movie.” He told her, in her mind again, while kissing her lips. He’d hoped to keep distracting her with his lips. It was the surest way to forget about his pain. “Did I tell you how beautiful you look?”
“Yes! Several times! But I’ll never get used to it.” She cooed, as he nuzzled against her neck.
“Then… Did I tell you how much I love you, Vika?” He kissed the base of her neck, not noticing that they were no longer alone in the room.
“I love you too, Ilya…” It was Viktoriya that noticed Valentina quietly walking into the room. The mood changed quickly, and drove Viktoriya from his lap. “I’ll get you your tea, a little honey in it?”
“Yes please,” He said out loud, sad to have her get up. “But I can get it myself.”
“I’ve got it Ilya. Just rest.” Viktoriya said, stepping past Valentina in the kitchen. Tensions were high in the hotel. That morning, over breakfast, Vikenti told Eli and Viktoriya about his conversations with Valentina. He didn’t leave out her ignorant views on Vikenti’s personal life, and where he found her – the balcony, and what she was doing – spying on their private time together.
“Good morning, Viktoriya,” Valentina acted as if she hadn’t tried to watch them have sex the night before. Or maybe she just didn’t care.
“Valentina.” Viktoriya said coolly. “Pardon, I’m just trying to make Eli his tea. I have a meeting soon.”
Vikenti returned to the hotel room from requesting the car be brought up at the desk. “Eli, if it’s alright, we’ll be taking your Audi.”
“I’m not going anywhere, Vikenti.” Eli said, looking back at him. Viktoriya brought his tea over, and gave him a kiss good bye before she and Vikenti left. Eli watched them leave, wishing he could go with them, or that they didn’t have to go.
He and Viktoriya were having such wonderful morning. His leg wound hadn’t reopened in the night, he woke in his own bed – not in a hospital, and he had Viktoriya in his arms. Eli reached over and caressed her cheek, her arm, her side, and her bare breast. Eli kissed her awake, and murmured to her lips. “Good morning, Vika.”
