I froze. An accident? This was serious. My parents? Dead serious!
"What happened?" Justin asked.
"Justin, theres been an accident. My parents…" I could barely speak.
"WHAT? What happened?" He sounded shocked too.
"I don't know, Kate said to go over to Davids place."
"Then what are we waiting for?" He turned to Ryan and Chaz,"you guys stay here, we're going next door."
"Make yourselves at home, we'll be back as soon as possible." I said.
"Don't worry," Ryan said,"we will. Hope everythings ok!"
Justin and I went out the front door and ran to Davids house. The door was open, inside were the rest of the gang. They all sat frozen staring at the television. Davids face was white, Kate was trying to calm him down. We turned to the TV, the news was on. It said,"Ship hits rock near the caribbean, 200 dead, 390 injured. 100 survive."
My parents' ship. I felt tears and I did nothing to stop them. I sunk down onto the couch. This couldn't be happening. I felt Justin's arm on my shoulder and I burst out crying and buried my face in his shirt.
He hugged me and sat down next to me.
My parents hadn't died, I just knew it. But what if I was wrong? How would I know? Could I call them? Yeah, I'll call them. I sat straight and wiped my face and dialled their number.
Come on, come on! I thought. It couldn't connect.
Out came the tears again.
"Justin," I said in a shaky voice,"Do you think thats my parents ship?"
"No, I'm sure they're alright." He said giving me a reassuring smile, and I buried my face into his shoulder.
He stroked my head, I calmed down a bit.
I tried calling again. It couldn't connect again.
Try again, couldn't connect. Again and again and again, still couldn't connect. I threw my phone in frustration and cried again.
"Switch off the TV." David said, all of a sudden, his voice shaking. Matt got up and promptly switched it off.
"David," I said,"that isn't our parents ship, I just know it."
"Then how come the calls won't connect?" He said, his voice suddenly stern.
"I'da know, why don't you try?" I was so frustrated I was almost screaming.
"How about I do?" He screamed back.
"Whoa, David, honey don't scream. Keep calm, and everything will be ok." Kate said as David whipped out his phone and dialled the number.
Few seconds later, he dialled again. Now it was his turn to throw the phone.
"Hey, guys, Alex is right." Sean said,"there must be hundreds of ships in the caribbean. You can't be sure that that ones your parents' ship."
"Yeah, and maybe theirs no signal at sea, so your calls couldn't connect." Matt said.
"But thats impossible! I talked to my parents just yesterday!" David screamed.
"Do you WANT your parents dead?" Said Yasmin in disbelief.
"I never said that." David replied.
"Then why are you trying to prove it?" asked Christina.
"Hold it! Everyone." Justin said,"I'm sure tomorrows newspaper will run an article on this accident. They'll write about the ship, they'll mention the dead peoples names, and messages from the survivors to their families. All we've got to do is wait till tomorrow morning."
"What should we do till then?" asked David.
I broke my silence,"We'll keep trying to contact them. I still feel that its not them."
I picked up my phone, and sat back down next to Justin.
He held my hand as I dialled again.
