[Jade's POV]

"Hello?" I nervously asked knowing kung sino ang nasa kabilang linya.

"Jade, anak, nasan ka? Bat di ka umuwi kagabi?" Mama asked with so much worry.

"Po..? Di po ba nasabi sayo ni Dada, Mama? Naabutan ako ng malakas na ulan sa office...." I can't help but bit my nails again.

"...tapos naabutan na rin po ako ng baha so I decided na wag nalang tumuloy sa pag-uwi, baka kasi matirikan ako ng sasakyan, Ma. Baka matagalan pa daw po kasi bago titila tong bagyo" I said cautiously while looking at Althea.

"Edi sana nagpasundo ka nalang, anak. Alalang-alala ako sayo. Sinabihan naman ako ng Dada mo. Pero anak, di mo naman ako mapipigilang mag-alala sayo.

"Ma, I'm fine. Nag check-in ako sa hotel malapit sa office so I'm safe and very warm here. There's nothing to worry about." But it's true though, I'm fine.

No, it's more than that. I feel great and I'm very much in love. Nginitian ko si Althea, at hinalikan nya naman ako sa may balikat ko.

"Okay, sige, sige. Just make sure na makauwi ka na agad ha. Baka nakalimutan mong you're an engaged lady now. Marami pa tayong dapat ipre-prepare for your engagement party."

Oh my God. I clearly forgot! I can sense that Mama is smiling on the other line. Yung engagement and probably my wedding is the only thing that my family is thinking of right now. Baka nga mas na-eexcite sila dito kesa nung kasal nila Ahya Gab at Pearl.

If only my family knew what is going on with me right now...If they only knew my real feelings about this whole engagement and wedding thing with David...

I was so lost with my own thoughts nang biglang tumayo si Althea at dumiretso sa may closet nya para magbihis.

"Anjan ka pa ba, shobe?" Tanong ni Mama sa kabilang linya.

"Yes po, still here. And no, di ko po nakalimutan, Ma. In fact, I'm very much... excited! Ha ha ha!" I faked cheered. Sana naman di mapansin ni mama yung lack of enthusiasm ko in reality. What have I gotten myself into?!

I stared at nothing for a moment para i-process ang lahat ng nangyari at pwedeng mangyari in the future. Nakatulala lang ako sa kawalan ng biglang dumaan si Althea sa gilid ko. I think my mother is filling me up with the details about the upcoming engagement party when I interrupted her.

"Mama, pa-lowbatt na yung phone ko and I think naiwan ko sa office yung charger ko. I'll just see you at home okay? I love you po. Bye!" I hung up immediately without waiting for my mother's response. I quickly changed to the clothes Althea lent me last night at sumunod nako sa kanya palabas ng kwarto.

Nakita ko sya sa may sink, washing the dishes.

"Hey." I whispered as I hug her from behind and leaned my head towards her back.

"Hey", mahinang sagot nya.

I enveloped her with a gentle, yet warm hug. "I'm sorry, Althea."

She turned around to face me. "There's nothing to be sorry about, Jade." She took both of my hands and gently squeezed them. Nakayuko lang ako, I can't even say it while looking straightly to her eyes.
