The most enchanting part of diving into the ocean as a merman was not only the sight of the endless depths and all of its creatures, but the magic that beamed through the transformation. With each bit of corral that Gerard touched, life blossomed and colors erupted, beauty growing from the roots and unfurling before his very eyes. Fish paddled around his swimming tail and greeted his existence, along with the dolphins twirling and dancing nearby, grinning at himself and the merman beside him. The sound of their joy echoed through the water and they offered their fins for Gerard and Frank to gently grasp onto to glide with them through the water. Gerard was hesitant at the beginning to touch them, but Frank encouraged him, entailing that dolphins were the friendliest creatures that aided merfolk since ancient history.
That had been another fascinating aspect of becoming a merman; Gerard could communicate with Frank telepathically. At first, the resonance of Frank's voice ringing through his head had been an alarming discovery since Gerard hadn't been told to expect it. Soon, amazement flooded through him as he paused there in the water, his fingers intertwined with Frank's, and his eyes gazing deeply into the latter's as his voice entered his mind again, a soft lullaby wrapping around his thoughts like silken ribbon. The sound echoed, rushing through Gerard, and the thought he responded to Frank with resounded in Frank's mind; Gerard knew from the way he gleefully grinned, his eyes shining so brightly it challenged the gleam of sunlight catching the ripples of the sea dancing across the sand.
Underneath the surface of what was the most celestial being on earth was an alternate universe sprung by beauty. Gerard grazed the sea life treading through the water and brushed his fingertips across the curls of kelp slowly swaying, admiring the colorful anemone keeping small fish hidden from the eyes of larger species drifting past the deeper the submerged into the ocean. He watched as Frank glided along the rocks and befriended the fish swirling around his tail twisting as he made his way through the water, giggling softly at the ticklish sensation of their fins grazing his scales in soft unintentional touches. Gerard experienced it for himself and couldn't restrain the grin that stretched across his face, his eyes meeting Frank's that stared at him adoringly, as though there was no other sight as wonderful as himself.
The time they spent gliding under the sea was a moment Gerard wished he could capture in a capsule to revisit whenever he craved the memory. There would be the possibility of submerging again, but no other time could recreate how precious it felt to discover everything, to be amazed by the beauty surrounding him, to become further entranced by the merman guiding him through the paths he was familiar with because the ocean was his home.
Their kisses hidden away behind the sea rocks were cool and a secret between their moving lips. Smiling lips met repeatedly as they held each other, slowly swaying through the waves, exchanging quieted thoughts through their ability Gerard couldn't move past because of the pure wonder it filled him with each time Frank's voice entered his mind so sweetly. In the arms of the ocean, they became one single entity glowing beyond the colors of the life blossomed and buried in the sands spreading across depths that plummeted downwards every inch. If felt like home. Though, deep in his heart, Gerard knew he could be anywhere on the planet with Frank and he would consider it home.
Worries didn't exist under water. Gerard supposed the beauty of it was the cleansing factor, the constant mesmerizing sights locking his mind down on solely what his eyes focused on, and all else ceased to exist. Frank was part of the water becoming his saving grace. Gerard didn't ponder over his existence, over his sense of belonging, he drifted easily and kept his hand locked with his lover, twisting through another adventure only existing in his dreams. The ocean carried them in her palms and nurtured them with magic absorbing into their veins.
