Love was escaping, faster than I had expected it to. In normal relationships, love fades after marriage but in mine it was fading even before entering my life.
I went downstairs along with Rubeena Aapa and had a look at everyone enjoying the party. This was the first time I was actually asked to come down. Usually, important people were told to meet me upstairs. It wasn't like I'm a princess, I'm needed to be hidden, it was like she is a princess, and she is Zamaira's sister. She might Run away too.
I walked straight to mom and greeted her friends. Weridly, she asked me to meet dad who was busy with his business associates. It's not a good hint.
"Assalamualikum Abbu." I said, entering his circle of guests.
"WalekumasSalam love. Why are you so late?" he questioned side hugging me. Huh? Because you guys forgot to inform me?
I heard a silent laugh and looked around to find Kaif winking at me from a corner.
"How are you now?" Usman uncle asked, showing concern. Oh, I bet he wants to know if I'll be going college tomorrow or not.
"I think I'm much better." I replied.
"Great, so will you be joining college back?" he asked the most "unexpected" question.
I gave him an innocent smile as Kaif coughed to hide his mini laugh. "I might, uncle." I said.
"Anyways, Waraina, meet Mr. Bilal Siddique. He is the newly appointed D.S.P of our city. Well, he is a very reputed officer and a double gold medalist shooter." Dad introduced a guy, some 5'8 ft long with shirt almost about to tear cause of his absolute perfect abs and jingling eyes. His lips had a smirk and it kept on widening as Dad spoke about his achievements.
"Princess Waraina." he said, partially bowing in front of me while asking for my hand.
I stood firmly smiling at his gesture while Kaif took his hand to save him from embarrassment. Well, apparently royal ladies are not allowed to shake hand with any commoner.
"So we meet again." I said.
His deep black eyes widened realising I still remembered him while his lips lift up into a smile, avoiding that irritating smirk.
"Certainly." he replied.
"You two know each other?" Dad asked out of curiosity of Usman Uncle.
"Yes, Waraina ma'am was the topper at our shooting academy the year I joined. She left a few days after that though. I have always been her fan." Bilal replied. He was always this disciplined except for the only day when I made my opinion about him. It was never his fault though.
"She really does have a lot of fans." Kaif smiled at him more like warned him to step back.
"Dad, you asked for me?" Kashan appeared from nowhere in his blue suit, the one that Zamaira loved. It was a gift we both bought for him yet he always knew it was from her. I'm never going to have enough courage to tell him the truth.
"Yes, Kashan I wanted you to introduce Waraina to some of our delegates." Usman Uncle said.
"Why?" he asked quickly.
"What why? She is going to be your wife. Probably the queen of this state in the coming years. Just show her around." Usman uncle scolded Kashan.
"Oh dear lord, this ain't going good." Kaif murdered.
"I don't think I need to show off my would be wife to anyone for any kind of deals... This might be something people would do in politics, but I'm sorry, she ain't a promotional tool." Kashan said in a hight toned voice while I stared at him dumbfounded.
"Get back to your room." he ordered.
I looked at him with disbelief. So people get to enjoy, while I stay in my room and watch Netflix? I'm not complaining, I get Netflix, you guys go die I don't care anymore.I nodded and began to walk back.
Kaif's P.O.V:
Someone so simple, so sweet and so innocent is being punished for her obedience. How fair is this? Anyways, what do I care? It's not like she is someone I should be concerned about. Well, she was once... But not anymore.
I excused myself from everyone and got busy with my phone. I went to the Sheesha corner and took a VVIP seat and finally got back to life.
I sat their for almost half an hour, lost in my instagram feed when something too unusual caught my eyes. It was a girl. No, no... It's not like girls catch my eyes rarely, it was just that the girl in the photograph was outside the Raza Mantion and the camera was facing her back.
"I'll be back, soon." the caption read. She is going to get all of us in some more intensified situation.
I rushed out of the house dodging several people while hitting others unknowingly. I had to lie to several people regarding my mother's health in order to get out of the main gate. People here still care for the dead lion, I mean my Dad but nobody actually even knows how am I related to him. They think of me as some relative but not as his son. I hardly care.
"What the hell are you trying to do here?" I scolded the elder princess taking her close in my arms as she slid down her ciggerates hiding from me.
Her hazel eyes immersed in mine while my arm encircled her waist tightly to support her from falling. She has always been this clumsy. Her brown hair kept on irritating my eyes as the wind touched her snow coloured skin.
"My house, my rules." she said.
I looked into her eyes with utter disbelief and winking at her took back my hands. Soon the princess was down on the floor while I stood there smirking.
"Whose house? Whose rules?" I tried to remind her what happened the last time we met.
"Fine. But that doesn't change any facts. It's still my house. I'm still Zamaira Raza. I still owe my life to this palace." she sighed. Her eyes had some magic, they could melt any one down. Any human would fall in her trap in no time. Luckily, I was no human.
"Princess, better stick to your plan and stay away from the palace... We already are facing a lot of punishments for a crime you committed!" I groaned.
She dig down her head as her hair covered her face while she picked the packet of her ciggerates. She slowly lit one of them right in front of me and taking continuous puffs, said, "Crime. Perhaps you need to look for that word in the dictionary. Living life on your own terms and taking stand for yourself is not a crime. You are the one who taught me that, you should know it better. Just for the sake of your damn politics, I'm not wasting the only one chance I have been blessed with on this earth."
She ranted before leaving. I always knew of a way to keep her away from the house, pretty simple, just trigger her emotions about her running away, and boom! You have your lioness ready.
How confusing it is, someone who needs to be treated well is dying in the world outside searching for it, while someone who deserves to be treated well is dying in the palace ignoring all her powers. Zamaira was right, I have always been the one to speak about standing for our own rights, yet I believe it's way to hard to do the way you speak.
I was afraid, for I knew too much.
