There is a story of general Pericles on a naval mission whose ship was cast into darkness as a result of the eclipse of the sun.
His men became frightened.
He walked up to the steersman, removed his coat and covered the man's face with it.
He then asked, "Are you scared?"
The steersman replied, "No, of course not"
Pericles understand the dark side of fear and he was able to use perspective to defeat it.
The Greek were clever when they mentioned that perspective is everything.
That is, when you look at something at from a new angle, it loses power over you.
A great philosopher once said, "Nothing is good, nothing is bad. It is how you see it"
We cannot change hindrances themselves but we use the power of perspective to change how they appear.
This also applies to how we see ourselves - the limitations we place on ourselves or the wings we chose to fly with.
Perspective determines how we interpret the events of our lives.
While some see themselves as losers, others believe they are winners even before they are given birth to.
Perspective is everything.
