season two episode two ; chocolate milk

part three . . .

kenzie, amy, holt, wuntch . . .

ninety-ninth precinct . . .

briefing room . . .

"And since my arrival, violent crime has gone down by 17.3%, as you can see here." Kenzie slipped into the room as Holt was talking to Wuntch just after lunch, dressed in grey slacks and red converse, a blue shirt, a grey v-neck jumper, dark blue tie, and black suit jacket unbuttoned. He'd been in the city all morning, had arrested a drunk and his perp and given Jake a massage over lunch, soothing the pain in his spine. Thankfully, Santiago was there, so the Captain hadn't been alone with Wuntch.

"Two-toned graphs? You think you can distract me from this precinct's problems with a flashy presentation?" Wuntch asked. "Same old Ray Holt. All sizzle, no steak. I'm off to do some spot-checks." Wuntch left, and Santiago totally freaked.

"Oh, my god. She's totally gonna flunk us." Amy panicked. "I haven't gotten an 'f' since i failed recess in the second grade, 'Teachers need a break too, Amy.'" Amy mocked.

"Oh, honey." Kenzie gave her a look that she completely ignored, used to the teasing.

"We were doomed the minute she slithered into the precinct," Holt said, which only furthered Amy's panic.

"How is that helping?" Kenzie asked Holt, giving him a look.

"It's funny. When we first met, we had some good times."

FLASHBACK

Wuntch and Holt were sitting at opposing desks, dressed era-appropriately, and both had their hands on the same stapler.

"Looks like we both want that stapler," Holt said stoically.

"Seems that way based on what happened," Wuntch answered. They both started laughing.

END OF FLASHBACK

"So, when did it all go to hell?" Kenzie asked, shoving his hands into his pockets and leaning back against the door frame.

"1989. I was up for a big promotion, which would have fast-tracked my career. Wuntch offered to write a letter on my behalf but instead, she torpedoed me because of something that happened the night before she was to turn it in."

FLASHBACK

Holt opened the door of his apartment and allowed Wuntch, who was wearing a trench coat, inside.

"Madeline." She walked inside. "Would you care for a drink?"

"I'd love one." She replied, accepting the drink.

"I'm sure you can tell I'm quite drunk. I've had a couple to build up the nerve. I think we both know what I'm about to say."

"Raymond," Wuntch said, giving Holt back her drink. "I don't think we need to say anything." She opened her coat to reveal lingerie, and Holt froze.
