Jake couldn't help but stare when he entered the kitchen area upon seeing Kenzie in his combat uniform - god did he look damn fine. The older man was standing beside Boyle, and they were making coffee - Kenzie should be banned from coffee due to how much sugar he put in it.

"Ugh, motorcade duty. So boring." Jake moaned, shoving a hand into his pocket as Kenzie and Boyle turned to him, Kenzie sipping his over-sugared coffee. "I'd rather sit around and listen to you talk about the right way to make paella."

"There's more than one right way to make paella, Jake." Boyle criticized his best friend. "There are ten right ways. You got classic Valencian, modern-"

"Oh god stop." Kenzie moaned at the same time as Jake.

"No, wait, stop. I changed my mind. I've made a horrible mistake. Kenz, you put way to much sugar in that." Jake teased. Kenzie turned, giving him a raised eyebrow look Jake knew all too well.

"Hypocrite." Kenzie shot back. "I watched you put fourteen spoonful's of sugar in your coffee this morning."

"You just pour it in!" Jake exclaimed, but his grin was all teasing. Boyle looked between the two men, confused.

"What's going on here?" Boyle asked. Jake and Kenzie looked at each other, before Kenzie nodded. Jake took a deep breath, facing Charles.

"There's something i need to tell you, Charles." Jake admitted.

"You're gay?" Charles said before he could, causing Jake to blink at his best friend. Kenzie smirked over his mug.

"Wait, you knew?"

"Jakey, come on. You're my best friend." Charles said. "You think i don't know everything about you even if you haven't told me?"

"He makes a good point, babe." Kenzie said lowly.

"Shh." Jake hissed back. Kenzie rolled his eyes, sipping his sugar coffee. "So, you're not mad i lied to you?"

"No, of course not." Charles insisted.

"Thanks buddy." Jake grinned. Rosa walked in just then, grabbing the coffee pot and pouring herself some coffee. Jake remembered the convo he and Kenzie had on the ride in and approached Rosa.

"Hey, Rosa, just who i was looking for." Jake said quickly. "Quick question, can Kenz and i have your friend Katie's phone number?"

"Jake, babe, think about how that sounded." Kenzie said. He blinked, then grimaced.

"Shit wait, no not for me." Jake rushed out. "I meant, Kenz has this friend and i think she would be perfect for Katie."

"No, i don't mix personal and professional." Rosa denied.

"Come on Rosa."

"No. Never."

"Never like 'we're never getting a black president'? Because that happened."

"A real never. Like if you ever ask me about this again, you're never gonna be able to eat without a straw." Rosa threatened him as she left.

"Yeah, okay, well... you are on the wrong side of history, my friend." Kenzie shook his head and headed back to his desk, kicking his feet up while Jake stayed in the kitchen talking to Charles.
