You were having one of the worst days of your life. Why? Because your depression was bone crippling. It felt like you were hit by a cement truck. It was so strong that you could barely function.

You were so buried in your thoughts, that got didn't even notice that Sam Winchester; your best friend, had let himself into your apartment. Sam was such a good soul. So kind, so caring. All you could ever ask for in a friend.

"How are you today, (Y/N)?" Sam gently placed his hands on your shoulders, trying to grasp your attention.

"(Y/N)?"

"Hi." You whispered, still a bit out of it.

"I asked you how you were doing. You know I like to check on you every once in a while."

You nod, not looking at Sam.

"I'm guessing you're a bit sad. Well, let's talk. What's up?" He questioned. Trying to meet your eyes.

"I'm just sad, Sam. I feel like I can't do anything right. It's just too much. I really don't want to talk about it."

Sam smiles and gives you a few moments, respecting your wishes.

"Okay, I'll give you a minute, but then we're going to talk."

You nod, honestly not wanting to talk to anyone, wanting to isolate yourself.

After a few minutes of pure silence, staring into blank space, Sam cleared his throat, indicating it was now time to talk.

"Okay. So let's do a little exercise." Sam suggests.

"Okay.." you said, barely audible.

"Alright. Tell me five things you like about yourself. Just five. That's all."

"But that's hard Sam."

"Just try. It isn't going to hurt." Sam smiles warmly at you.

You nod and think for a brief moment.

"I like my freckles." You a crack a tiny smile.

"Great start. Now four more to go."

"I like my styles my hair color, my writing skills, and drawing."

"Good job, (Y/N)! That's more than five." Sam clearly was impressed.

"I feel so proud." You admit, smiling even bigger than last time.

"You should be. It's a big step up. Admitting that there is things, you do in-fact like about yourself."

Sam wraps you in a warm hug. "Thank you for helping me. You really made me feel better. Sam, the unofficial therapist." You giggle and Sam laughs.

"You're welcome. I'll be back again tomorrow to check on you, Okay?"

"Okay." Ever since that day you sat down with Sam and listed all the things you like about yourself, you had a positive outlook on life. You began to work on all of your hobbies. You even got a book published. Sam Winchester really was a hero.
