Set Me Free: Chapter 2
Lily starred at his retreating back, her body shaking with anger. How DARE he just leave. They had been best friends since they were kids she had loved him for what seemed like forever.
She was sick and tired of his white knight routine, always saying she was too young or innocent, when she had been right by his side through all his life, the pain the betrayal the danger, her innocence was long gone. She had lost it the first time she had found him hiding in the woods, his body covered in bruises and open-wounds.
Shaking her head she turned around. She couldn't get through to him now but she would be damned if she would just let him leave like that.
She felt like stomping and crying at the same time, and that was NOT a good combination. It seems like every time she gets him to start to admit how he feels he shuts down, and then leaves.
Her heart was aching for him, crying internal tears for what he must be going through right now, being too late to save his beloved Mother.
Knowing Lucas he was probably loaded with guilt, and yet he still did not turn towards her, even for a little of comfort.
And that was like a knife shoved into her heart.
Each step felt like she was losing a piece of herself, knowing he was in pain and unable to go to him, because he was a stupid stubborn pig-headed male.
Sighing she quickened her pace; she had to get home so she could come up with a plan to finally snag the man of her dreams.
As Lucas watch what was left of his Mother go up in smoke, he sent a silent pray that her soul would be safe in the savors arms.
A silent tear fell from his eye and tracked a path down his check. He was so full of anger and pain and guilt.
All he really knew for sure was that whoever did this would, would pay, and pay dearly.
Lucas liked few and loved even less, but it seemed he had a never ending abundance of enemies.
He had made a promise to himself the next person who abused Alice would suffer, but her death could only be avenged with the exchange of another life.
Turning away from the bright flames he looked towards the sky to dark to bring him comfort for it was far from the day blue of Lily's eyes.
He would not go to her, no matter how much it hurt him or her for he knew once he turned to her...he would never be able to turn away.
