Recap:

Turning away from the bright flames he looked towards the sky to dark to bring him comfort for it was far from the day blue of Lily's eyes.

He would not go to her, no matter how much it hurt him or her for he knew once he turned to her...he would never be able to turn away.

Set Me Free: Chapter 3

3 years later

Lily starred up at the bright blue sky, feeling the sun warming her face. How long had it been since she had truly be warm?

She tried to take a deep breath but the pain in her chest wouldn't let her.

She closed her eyes bringing from her memory the face of her beloved Lucas, his dark raven hair flowing softly around his face, the slight grin on his firm lips that only she and Alice had ever seen.

She sighed softly reaching out her hand in the empty air, imagining she was touching his handsome face.

When her hand met a warm chest her eyes flew open...to meet the very eyes of the man she had just been imagining.

"Lucas" Lucas' breath caught at the not in her voice, a voice that he had only heard in his dreams for three years.

He watched in amazement as tears gathered in her beautiful eyes. The quick as the tears had gathered they were smothered by the bright spark of anger.

Jumping to her feet, she pushed at his chest heavily, probably hoping to make him fall. He didn't move an inch.

'How DARE you leave me like that you stupid rat bastard!"

Lucas starred at her, shocked. Her body was literally shaking with anger and if looks could have killed he would have been long dead.

"I had things to do. You know you're not my number one priority, if you can remember correctly I had to bury my dead mother's body." He said after clearing his throat, tying to sound like she wasn't his number one priority, his true reason for finally being able to breathe again.

Her gaze softened and once again her eyes filled slightly with her tears.

"I remember just fine, Lucas" she whispered, not even touching the snide words before. "I remember finding you standing so protectively over her poor dead body, yet even when I offered, you didn't turn to me. Do you know how that hurt me? To see you, who I've loved since that fateful night in that forest to turn away from me when you needed me most?
