Baekhyun raced through the corridors and corners, breath hitching in panic as he nearly slipped on the polished floors. He shoved the doors open and sprinted across the grass, tears streaming past his face out of fear. The short male finally stopped at the school's iconic cherry blossom tree, unable to run anymore. He just couldn't go on; his lungs were about to give out. The terrified boy hugged himself, whimpering as tears fell down his face as he fell to his knees. He was a goner.

"Excuse me?"

Baekhyun whipped around, fear shining in his eyes as he looked up at a man standing there.

"Are you alright sir? Why are you crying on such a calm night?"

"I- I- someone's chasing me-" He held onto his bloody shoulder, wincing as he felt the long cut. "Th-They were trying to kill me-"

"My goodness, how terrible... well, I was just walking along the path and didn't see anyone; I assume they gave up." A pause. "No point in sitting on the dirty floor- Her, let me help you stand..."

Baekhyun grabbed the man's hand and stood, doubling over at the pain in his shoulder. He couldn't feel his arm anymore, and the mysterious man supported him as the high schooler caught his breath.

"I'll take you somewhere safe, alright? No one will find you there." He smiled at Baekhyun's weak hiccups. "Need a hug by chance?"

Baekhyun nodded and fell into the man's hold, finally relaxing. He was safe. All safe.

The knife swiftly plunged into his back, causing Baekhyun to choke on a breath. The boy slowly pulled him away, smiling at Baekhyun's expression. Baekhyun opened his mouth, but the mysterious person cupped a hand over it.

"Shh... there we go, see? Soon you'll be somewhere secret-" He leaned in close to Baekhyun's ear and hissed. "-and you'll leave Chen alone. He's mine."

He hugged Baekhyun close and pressed the knife deeper for good measure. The man stood on the lonely hill, holding the now dead boy in his arms as a final hug. As he dragged the lifeless body to the deep, rushing river that passed through the city, he couldn't help but sigh. This was too much; he couldn't do this anymore.

He must confess.

"Hey Xiumin!"

The young man turned, only to smile at his friend coming his way.

"Hey Chen, how was the long weekend?"

Chen's smile flattered. "Um, well... Baekhyun's gone."

Xiumin's face turned worried as Chen told him all the details; he walked Baekhyun home at eight o'clock, but apparently Baekhyun went back to the school because he forgot a project. His English teacher let him inside, but he wasn't seen exiting the school. There's a search going around now.

"I'm sure he'll turn up eventually," Xiumin said, giving a reassuring smile.

Chen sighed, tossing an arm around Xiumin and fiddling with his student badge. "I sure hope so."

Xiumin secretly smiled, enjoying Chen's physical affection. The bell interrupted their moment, and Chen groaned as Xiumin glared at the bell. 

"Man... alright, see ya later Xiu."

"See ya!" Xiumin chirped, waving as he jogged off. Chen smiled at his friend and opened his locker, taking his chemistry book out. He was about to close the door when he noticed a small, pink envelope stuck to the door. He rolled his eyes as he opened it and murmured the words quietly.
