as mina scrolled through her instagram feed, wasting her night on pointless endeavors across the internet. she got it, a message from one of her best friends, uraraka ochaco.

that was all it read. ashido chuckled a bit and sent back an image of the uno reverse card colored green she had saved on her phone due to meme wars with denki and sero.

that made ashido flush a bit, gaining hope that the subtle feelings she harbors aren't unrequited. 'she can't possibly like me! she's obviously straight and has a thing for midoriya! she's probably just acting all gal-pal...' she scolds herself at the naive thought. but she returned the message anyway.

that turned mina's unnoticeably flushed face to an almost-red complexion. how is she so damn cute!?!?!!?!?!?!???!?!? ashido quickly shut her phone off and attempted to drift sleep, though insomnia was back with a killing vengeance. she tossed and turned, but her mind kept wandering and her eyes no longer felt heavy. she noticed that her room was just cold enough to make her semi-uncomfortable. she noticed how her blankets were just slightly itchy, she noticed that her room was just a bit too messy to focus, and unless she got up to take her medication, she would walk into class the next day with double raccoon eyes.
ashido sighed heavily and slowly stood up, she started to make her way downstairs to where she hid her sleeping aid pills. she hid them because she didn't trust herself with them in her room, easily accessible. it would probably be a good time for a cigarette, but the fire used to light it would end up burning ashido's eye. this was the only way she had a chance at sleep. she stumbled downstairs to the cranny she had hidden the medication, there she heard a few muffled sounds. she panicked and looked for the source, but then everything went silent. ashido sighed as she took the pills and went to take them back to her room, get a glass of water to take them with, then come back, return the pills, and pass out on one of the couches.
but she heard the shuffle again. tired, and at this point agitated, she decided to confront this mysterious person or thing.
"who the fuck are you!" she took a defensive stance, and groggily yelled. what she heard in response was odd, to say the least, she heard a sound like a squeak being returned.
"oh! mina, it's just you."
the young girl with brown hair ashido was texting just moments before emerged from shadows and into the light with a sheepish smile. mina's stance loosened. uraraka was close enough so her face would be visible
"oh, hi ocha. weren't you going to sleep?" she rubbed her eyes with her arm. uraraka nervously chuckled in response
"i-um, touché i suppose!" she looked down and fiddled her feet. mina sighed,
"ocha, what's wrong?" mina crossed her arms and went into ULTIMATE MOTHER MODE™.
"i may or may not," she paused and took a deep breath, " imayormaynothaveahardtimesleepingwithoutanotherfigureandstuffiknowitsimmaturebutpleasedonttellanyone! " she rattled off in one word. mina blinked once, then twice, she saw her chance.
"well why didn't you say so! c'mon, we're both girls, so it's chill!" she lied, it was a small white lie, nothing big, just something small to get closer to her crush.
"really, you'd really-you'd really do that-that for me?" ochaco stuttered out, the usual pink on her cheeks growing a bit, out of embarrassment, ashido assumed.
"well duh!" the raccoon-eyed girl laughed out, walking closer to uraraka and putting her arm around the other girl's shoulder, shoving her meds back into their hiding place beforehand.
"it'll be just like a sleepover!" mina continued, doing her best straight girl act.
"that's weird though-" ochaco began quietly before quickly explaining her thoughts, "by which i mean my habit of that is weird, don't you think i should just grow up?!" she exclaimed. mina waved her hand to brush it off.
"nonsense! c'mon!" she drags uraraka to her dorm room swiftly with a blush growing on both their faces. mina almost tripped in her mad dash a few times, but laughed and gave a thumbs each time. she dragged uraraka behind her, not caring if their running woke others up.
"mina!! you'll get in trouble!" ochaco whisper-yelled, mina only sped up as a power move, the brown haired girl's face showed panic. eventually, mina reached her dorm, she stopped in front of it, still gripping ochaco's hand.
"guess you're sleeping here tonight!" mina chirped, excited for the chance with uraraka.
"i guess," ochaco mumbled, hiding her blush by looking down to the side. ashido seized the moment and dragged ochaco to the bed for one night of sleeping in the same bed like that. just one, right?
'plus ocha is definitely straight. no harm done!'
mina thought as she took a dramatic fall onto her bed with a giggle. uraraka stiffened up and attempted to lay down comfortably and seamlessly, she failed. uraraka lay stiff on the bed as mina's giggles became full out laughter.
"that's not how you-" her laughing fit interrupted, "that's not how you sleep, silly!" mina stuttered out with her over-the-top laugh. ochaco's face grew hotter as she turned to her side, a little bit comfier, and wrapped her arms around ashido. she curled up against the pink girl's waist, closed her eyes and attempted sleep through her flustered state. mina made a shocked expression but smiled nevertheless. she hummed a bit to uraraka and fell fast asleep with the other girl's position. ochaco remained clinging to ashido and blushing for a while longer, before collecting herself and relaxing more, falling asleep soon. the two girls' chests rose up and down with each breath, at a sort of peace at 4:00 am of all times.
needless to say, waking up was something neither wished for. waking up would be like leaving heaven, and neither wanted to do that. but life works in funny ways, and sometimes you gotta leave heaven, only to go back to hell and come back, continuing a useless cycle.
