Unknown's point of view
I wasn't worthy of your love. That was what everyone always said.
Everyone who saw you with me asked the same question when they thought I was not paying attention.
"Are you sure about her?" I remembered hearing you laugh saying that you couldn't imagine being with anyone else. That was how you were, selfless and deeply in love with me. Someone would call me lucky, while others simply called me a witch.
They couldn't believe the love in your eyes was because of, well love. They saw it as something surreal that didn't have a place in our society. I usually ignored them, not giving them much thought. Back then I felt almost selfish for having someone like you, I didn't think I deserved you...but I loved you with all of my heart and if that was enough to make you happy, I would gladly give you all of me till the end of time.
They were chasing us through the woods, determined about "saving" you from the curse and the witch. The humid ground made me slip and the torches were getting closer. You instantly threw me over your shoulder and ran. "Kai...let them have me"
You jumped into a ditch near a dead tree. The eyes that met mine were felt with anger. "No" you whispered firmly. I pulled you closer wrapping my hands around your waist. "I really, really love you" my voice cracked. You held me even tighter, kissing the top of my head. "I won't let them have you"
I knew you meant every word, but I couldn't let you sacrifice more. Your family had thrown you out, along with the rest of the village. I saw you getting beat up and threatened. Sometimes your old friends would try to convince you about me being a witch. Of course, it wasn't true and you knew that too. The rumor started when the hunter's daughter saw us together.
She was deeply in love with you.
Seeing you with me made her go mad. She ran up to us and started confessing to you in front of the whole village. You politely turned her down saying that you already had me. In her head, the chance of you not liking her was just not a possibility.
The only thing that could "explain it" in her head was one thing, a curse. She started screaming like a mad person, begging you to come to your senses, gaining the attention of people passing by.
Everyone around us started whispering about us.
That was only the beginning.
which ended up bringing us here.
They were close now; their shadows and voices were a strong contrast to the lonely forest. This was my chance to save you. I was just about to jump up, but...you had already left.
"HEEY!" You yelled gaining the attention of the mad folks.
"She's gone I killed her" I now understood what you were trying to do.
I tried to get a better look at what was happening. I was now laying behind the dead tree. They all stepped aside as the hunter made his way over to you. "Dear boy, you have survived one of the worst curses I have ever laid my eyes on" You nodded not saying anything. Tension suddenly filled the air, when a man stepped out from the shadows; he walked up to the priest.
"We will free you now my boy, we will free you completely from having to deal with other problems" My jaw almost dropped when the man rose the pitchfork. I ran up from the ditch screaming "NO!" The hunter smirked and a look of insanity possessed his wrinkly features. "I KNEW IT!" He grabbed the pitchfork from the man and stabbed me.
I instantly fell to the ground. The stinging sensation made me scream. Everything got blurry, my limps were slowly getting numb. The light from the torches was slowly disappearing. I was barely conscious at this point, but I could still feel your presence. "K-kai...I'm sorry" The last thing I heard was someone screaming.
I sacrificed myself, I did it thinking it would save you...
But instead, I robbed you taking the thing you valued the most...
Me.
