CHAPTER FOUR

As the weeks went by, me and harry grew closer and closer. We walked all through London, talking and pretending to be tourists. Other days we would go to one of our flat’s and watch movies together. I learned that Harry was a huge cuddler, not that I minded. When we were hanging out, he would usually have an arm around my shoulders or waist, and he was constantly tickling my feet or stomach.

Harry and Fliss’s occasional hookups became more frequent. The tabloids said they were a pair, but it was more complicated than that.

One day, when I was supposed to be seeing a film with Harry, I walked in on him and Fliss. The two of them were in bed together, obviously quite busy.

“Ahhhhhh!!” I screamed, shutting my eyes and backing out of the door. I was pissed to say the least. Just because Fliss is suddenly horny doesn’t mean he can just blow me off. As I fumbled with the doorhandle, I felt and iron grip on my shoulder.

“Macie! Wait! I’ll be ready in a sec, just let me get my coat.” He said urgently, still in boxers.

“No, Harry. Go back to Fliss. I’ll call someone else to see a film,” I replied, shrugging him off.

“Aw c’mon Maciecakes, please? You’re my favorite..” He mumbled, trying to pull the cute card. He even used my nickname.

“Fine, but what are you gonna do with Fliss?”

“Erm…”

All of a sudden Fliss was standing in the hallway behind us. “Harry, you coming back? Wait, Macie what are you doing here?” She asked, puzzled. Harry responded apologetically, “I forgot that I had made plans with Macie today. I’ll call you later though, babe, okay?” He gave her a smacking kiss on the lips. “Uh, okay, yeah, that cool.” Fliss stammered, slipping her sweater on.

When Fliss left a few moments later, harry grinned at me. I sighed. “Fliss is gonna be mad at both of us.”

“Fliss isn’t important right now. It’s all about you and me.” He squeezed my arm and led me out the door, grinning so wide his dimples showed.

Sure enough, Fliss called me a few hours later, obviously pissed. “Listen, Macie. If you and Harry have a “thing,” can you just tell me? Because this little “just friends” thing is bullshit. He ditches me for you almost daily, and you’re all he talks about. Can you just stop denying the fact that you guys are fucking?”

“Fliss! Harry and I are just-“

“Stop. Lying. To. Me. You know what? I’m done with both of you. I’m calling Harry. And don’t try to talk to me again.” With that she hung up.

I stared at the phone for a second, in utter shock. Fliss had never been that mean before. She had always believed me when I told her things. But now, she had been so rude to me, and to harry. I slowly sunk onto my kitchen chair and started crying.

HARRY

Fliss had just hung up on me. After yelling into my ear for a good ten minutes, she announced she never wanted to see me or Macie ever again and hung up. I knew Macie would be feeling horrible about this. So I picked up my phone and dialed in her number, the only number I had memorized beside my own or my family’s.

When she picked up the only thing I heard was a quiet sniffle. “Macie?”

“Erm, Hi Harry, what’s up?” She asked, her voice thick with tears.

“Macie I’m coming over, okay? You sound like a mess.”

15 MINS LATER- STILL HARRY

I walked through Macie’s unlocked apartment door, and found her curled up in a ball on her couch. She was cradling her phone in her arms, tears rolling down to her chin. I said nothing, but slowly slid down next to her.
