Quick note to when I am editing this in the future-
I wrote this a really long time ago (as in like when I was 11 or 12) and had no idea what I was doing so please excuse anything that is weird because I'm going to fix grammar and punctuation, not the storyline. Thx.
Also for some reason Keith is obsessed with trees? I have no idea just ignore that.

Disclaimer: none of the art shown in this story is mine all credit goes to original artists-I suck at drawing
ON WITH THE STORY!!!
Quick note-
1-3 pulses—basic
4-6 pulses—you could be friends
7-9 pulses—at least best friends
10 pulses—soulmate

Keith POV:
As I walked down tho road to the pier, I thought about how dependent everyone has become on the soul pulse system. They pay too much attention to how many times they pulse and base their whole lives on it. It sucks. I've never pulsed with anyone, and I'm okay with that. I better off alone anyway. I go to the edge of the pier and take out my book. I've done this every day since I was shipped out to this foster home in California a couple weeks ago. A big change from my last family in Washington. It's quiet and nobody bothers me. I'll never pulse with anyone, I've accepted that.

Lance POV:
Ever since I got up this morning, I have had a feeling that today was going to be a good day. Maybe today I'll meet my soulmate? Wishful thinking, I know, but I hope so. Most people never find their soulmate, there are billions of people in the world, and only one soulmate, but I am determined to find them, and when I do I will never let them go. As I am walking I see a broody, emo looking guy wearing a black t-Shirt, black skinny jeans and a big red jacket. I took an instant liking to him, and thought he looked cool just reading there.
Time for the lance charms.

Keith POV:
I see this lanky looking, brown haired, Cuban boy walking towards me, and I try to keep my head in my book. He sits next to me on the pier and starts to introduce himself. I try to ignore him hoping he will go away.
"Hello, my names Lance." he holds out his hand and smiles. I want to see where this goes, so I don't shake it.
"Why are you talking to me?" I ask
"Well you looked interesting."
"What is that supposed to mean?"
I roll my eyes and get up, starting to walk towards the bakery around the corner to get myself breakfast. As soon as I think the strange boy, Lance, is gone, I see him sprinting towards me. This guy is persistent.

No one POV:
As Lance runs up to Keith, they almost collide, but Keith jumps out of the way. Lance slows himself down and turns around to face Keith.
"Why'd you leave?" He asks
"I'm getting my breakfast" Keith says as he points to the bakery door.
"It's on me! What do you want umm"
"Keith, my names Keith"

Word Count: 539

(As I am editing this about three years after I originally wrote it, I am so disappointed in myself. Not even 1,000 words?! Come on past me, we can do better that that!)
