For weeks the routine of waking from a nightmare, spending hours in bed, consoling himself that his trauma will never happen again, and facing the wrath and humiliation of Kaiba .
Joey has tried to reason with the man, he even tried to bargain, to get him to stop calling him "mutt," a nickname that brought bad memories with it everywhere. However, no matter what he did, Kaiba called him a mutt. And so, a new objective was added to his routine: insult Kaiba. The two would spend hours throwing horrible names back and forth, almost like children. They also acted just as petty.
The Kaiba brothers were already up and ready to start the day when Joey had just gotten out of bed.
The elder Kaiba was drinking a cup of coffee while reading a newspaper, much like a father at a table full of children in the movies. While the younger Kaiba found entertainment in his toys, which seemed to be scattered across the house. Joey knows he has stepped on at least one of the toys.
"The mutt is finally up. Make us food, then get dressed, we will be busy today," Kaiba demanded of Joey without even raising his head to meet Joey's furious gaze. "And don't bother with the name calling mutt, we don't have time."
Joey went into the kitchen and grabbed a container of eggs. This will be good.
Joey opened the container and made portions for Mokuba and himself, and since he was used to cooking, he also made lunch for each of them. Grabbing at three eggs, a breakfast portion for Kaiba, he threw the eggs at the burnette's head, before running upstairs to avoid the seventh hell of Seto Kaiba.
He quickly entered his room and began to pack, because he knew when Kaiba got in here, he would be forced to leave.
Grabbing his old, brown suitcase and his even older bag, he packed what he originally brought with him: three pairs of pants, five shirts, six sets of pajamas, two pairs of briefs, and his two pairs of socks with one missing to pair three.
He shoved each item into the suitcase and then he heard a loud pounding on his door. The beast has come for revenge.
Joey was surprised when the door slammed open and then he realized he forgot to lock the door because of his urgency to pack.
Kaiba's eyes narrowed at the suitcase in the mutt's hand.
"What the hell is that," He asked, anger rising in him for a different reason. A reason he didn't quite understand, nor like.
"My things," the mutt replied casually, as if Kaiba was not angry at him and he wasn't about to leave. This tone only upset Kaiba more and more. Then, it went beyond the 'Point of No Return,' when he thought about the egg. When he thought about that being the mutt's goodbye. "Don't ya want me to leave, I did throw a' egg at yar head an' all. Besides, this gives ya a reason to kick me out."
Joey can say he was not expecting to get hit for his words. Nor was he expecting the elder Kaiba to have such a right hook. Hope you have a good pain tolerance, Kaiba. Joey got up from his position on the floor after the hit and swung back at the burtnette. He was surprised once more when Kaiba blocked him and countered with another hit, this time to his stomach. God, that hurts. Joey raised his head to see Kaiba raising his arm again and pulling it back with a fire in his eyes. Closing his eyes, waiting for the hit, since Joey knew he couldn't react fast enough to stop Kaiba, especially with the bruises still pulsating pain through his veins.
But, the hit never came. The pain didn't arrive.
Kaiba was looking down at him. A look of regret passed through his features, and even though that look left his face, it remained in his eyes.
