Joey woke again, but this time, Kaiba was absent from the bed. His body filled with fear, paranoia filling his senses as his eyes moved from all the windows to the door in a rabid motion. He quickly moved from the bed to the floor, feeling less cornered from the lower level since no one can see him.

The door opened and he moved quickly, hiding under the bed. Joey covered his mouth to hide the rapid sound of his breath as he watched a pair of feet pass by. He rolled out from under the bed and to the door as a voice he didn't recognize called for him. Joey closed the door and quickly ran to the stairwell, searching for Mokuba or Kaiba, a familiar face, anything to prove he was safe. To prove Ushio wasn't after him.

"Master Joey," A familiar voice called, "Master Kaiba is out right now. He will be back shortly." The older butler, Kaiba's butler, while Joey could not remember his name, he knew the butler worked for Kaiba. That was reassurance enough that Joey was safe enough to no longer look for an exit.

Joey's racing heart calmed and he went back to the room he ran from, looking into it cautiously, looking for any wild or fast movements.

"Master Joey," The voice from before said, "I want to-" He did not get to finish as Joey quickly leapt into his room and slammed the door, knowing the person behind the voice was on the other side of the door.

The person knocked and said from the other side of the door, "I want to apologize for scaring you, I only meant to offer care." Joey could hear steps leaving the door and he slowly started to relax as the steps got farther and farther away.

Kaiba will be back soon, Joey thought, taking comfort in that thought alone. Joey stayed in his room, the door locked, patiently waiting for Kaiba.

Now that Joey thought about everything, he realized this was the first time Kaiba and him have been separated in a long time. Joey thought more and he realized this attachment to Kaiba was unhealthy, to say the least. He should be able to still function as a normal human being without Kaiba, yet the thought of leaving the room without him made Joey uncomfortable and terrified.

The idea that one of the butlers would hurt him without Kaiba around was prevalent in his mind.

The only butler he trusted was the eldest one, the one who helped him take care of Kaiba and admitted to knowing Kaiba in his younger years, although he doesn't remember him or simply doesn't recognize him, since he worked for his father in his youth and only a few years were dedicated to the Kaiba family.

A knock sounded at the door, chasing away Joey's thoughts as his head snapped to the door.

"Joey, are you in there," Mokuba's voice asked through the door. "I'm sorry for leaving you alone. I went to go and bring us food."

Joey moved to the door, opening it slowly. He face was a deep red from the shame he felt, needing Mokuba to save him from himself.

Mokuba offered Joey a smile and entered as he opened the door wider for the young boy to enter the room.

"Joey, do you like chicken or beef better," Mokuba asked, "I got us some chicken sandwiches and hamburgers."

"I like both, Mokuba," Joey chuckled, "You can have whichever you like better."

Mokuba pouted, disliking the answer Joey given.

"Okay," Mokuba said, a slightly upset drawl in his voice.

Joey chuckled at Mokuba's upset drawl, finding the slight pout on his face adorable. Mokuba glared at Joey after hearing his laughter, the pout still on his face.

"Okay, okay," Joey relented, unable to stand the cuteness Mokuba had by pouting, "I prefer hamburgers."

Mokuba smiles, happy that Joey chose the food.
