Brandon's pov
When the teacher called Ava's name my eyes went to her. Of course she's in this class with me. "Dude, look at Pricilla, she's so hot," Anthony says. "Dude, it's never gonna happen." Jack pats Anthony's shoulder and I laugh. "What about Ava?" Anthony asked. I turned back to her and watched her back as she talked to Pricilla. "She's hot bro but did you hear about her mom?" Jack said. I looked down. I did hear about her mom. She seemed alone now. Only her white rang rover is ever in her driveway. No other cars. "Yeah I did, it sucks too," Anthony said. "You know what they say, rich family's have flaws too," Jack said leaning back in his chair. "Pretty sure no one says that, but you're right. Hey Brandon you're her neighbor why do you hook up with her?" Jack raised his eyebrows at me and I shook my head. "You know girls like that don't go for us. They go for Shawn Davis." I said shaking my head. "That guy is a bastard. I hate him." Jack crossed his arms. "Brandon Meyers?" "Here," I said tasing my hand. I felt a pair of eyes looking at me and I quickly met them. It was Ava. She quickly turned around but I didn't look away.
Ava's pov
At lunch my friends and I sat at our normal table by the window. I was kind of relieved to go to lunch after having two classes before lunch. I can only do so much school. "So, let's talk about our summers, Melody you go first," Pricilla said. Melody smiled and clasped her hands together. "Well, my parents took me to Spain and I met this super hot guy!" She gushed. "Any pics?" Jesica asked. We all laughed. She pulled up a shirtless picture of him on her phone and we all gasped. "Did you guys have sex?" Pricilla asked excitedly. Melody nodded. "Three times." Our mouths dropped. Including mine. Now I knew Melody and I knew her parents. They like tradition especially in their Chinese culture. I know her parents wouldn't have allowed it but I was happy for Melody because she has never had a great boyfriend. "What about your parents?" I asked. She smiled evilly. "Well, let's just say I told my parents I had met a friend," she smiled. I smiled back at her. "Okay Jesica, you're up," Pricilla almost challenged. Could Jesica beat that? I know I couldn't. "As you know my parents got me a private jet for Christmas. Well, they let me go wherever I wanted. I went to California and did some mega shopping and then I went to the Caribbean and relaxed on the beach and then I went to Vegas. By the way they have some killer parties." "That sounds like so much fun," Melody said staring at Jesica. "My parents said that maybe for Christmas break I can take you guys to our cabin in Canada." My eyes widened and Pricilla squealed. "Yayyyy!" Melody hugged Jesica. "Alright, Ava, your turn," I looked at Pricilla. "Well, I went to a few parties downtown and....that's about it," I said. Normally I would have had the best story at the table. Pricilla looked at me with sad eyes. "What about Shawn?" Jesica asked. "Did you guys do anything?" "Yeah, um he came over and we hooked up a few times but other than that that's about it," I said. "Pricilla?" I looked at Pricilla. She smiled and started telling her amazing story about Europe and the Yacht she was on. The whole time I just thought about my mom. After lunch Melody and I walked to our next period together. As we headed down the hallway I saw Shawn walking to his locker. He saw me and didn't take his eyes off me. "Ava," he acknowledged as we walked by each other. "Shawn," I said backhand kept walking with Melody. "Oh my god he's so into you," she said. I looked at her with an unsure expression. "Oh come on, you guys have been hooking up since, what? Last year? He's practically your boyfriend." "I guess," I lied. Shawn was and will never be my boyfriend. That's not how I worked. I know Shawn and he is not boyfriend material.
