In the morning I wake up on Brandon's chest on the couch. My mind replays last nights memories of watching tv on the couch. We must have fallen asleep. I carefully sit up making sure I don't wake Brandon. I hear a rustle coming from the kitchen and my eyes go wide. What the hell? Who is in the kitchen?
I quietly get up and make my way to the kitchen. I grab a vase off of one of the shelves for a weapon. I hold it up and step in to the kitchen. I see a crouched figure with black hair raiding the fridge.
"Melody?" I say. Her black hair whips around and her frightened emerald eyes stare into mine. I set the vase down on the counter.
"What the hell are you doing here?!" Her mouth moves but nothing comes out. I must have waken up Brandon because he came running into the kitchen.
"What's going on?" He asks. Melody's eyes go back and forth from Brandon's and I. I look and see that she has bread, peanut butter, and one of my protein bars that kept going missing. I finally realize why she is here.
"This is so embarrassing," she breathes and touches her forehead.
"Brandon can you go upstairs?" I asked facing him. He hesitates and nods and leaves the kitchen. I walk towards Melody and she sets the food on the counter.
"Melody, why are you here?" I asked. Tears fill her eyes.
"Ava, I'm so sorry! I didn't know where else to go! My parents threw me out." She said. "They found out about the guy in Spain and they threw me out." She said quietly.
"Oh Melody," I said sighing.
"I'm sorry, I just couldn't tell the other girls because I thought that they wouldn't get it and I thought that Pricilla would have judged me so I have been sneaking into your house. I've been staying in the guest bedroom."
"So that's why I've been hearing footsteps throughout the house and my protein bars have disappeared!" I said realizing.
"I understand if your mad and-," she started.
"Melody, I'm not mad. You should have told me. I would have let you stay." I said. She nodded and gave me a hug.
"So you've been here every night?" I asked.
"Before you ask anything else, I haven't been listening to your conversations or anything. I mean I had to listen to your dad and his girlfriend and I did notice that Brandon had been coming over a lot more. Are you guys dating?" She finally asks.
"Um... I don't know," I blush.
"Well, you's seem like you really like him. Is that why haven't told Pricilla?" I nod.
"Brandon has a lot of things going on right now and I don't want him dealing with Pricilla. She's my problem."
"I'm sorry I didn't stick up for you or say anything at the party on Friday. I was just really scared." She said.
