Tin's POV
I am going to miss Cantaloupe today. I wish my left leg would heal faster. I am still stuck at home with this bad leg. Although I can limp around without assistance, I have been advised not to put weight on it for a long period of time.
I don't want to be selfish and keep Can from going out just because I can't. I want him to enjoy the fundraising university fair with Good. I still can't help missing him though.
By twelve noon, I thought about calling him to see how he was doing.
I was not surprised that he did not take my call. The noise that abounds at every fair usually manages to drown out the sound of a ringing phone.
By one o'clock I decided to text him and hope that he would see my text message.
"Hi, sweetheart, how's it going."
"Are you having fun trying all the food in the different international booths?"
"Don't overeat, sweetheart, I don't want you to gain weight."
When three o'clock came and I still didn't hear from Can, I decided to ask our family driver to take me to the university.
When we got to the university, I was surprised to see it deserted.
I instructed my driver to ask the security guard which part of the campus the fair was located.
My driver came back with the information that there wasn't any fair being held in any part of the campus.
I did not know whether to get upset or get worried. There was no reason for Can to lie to me about going to a fair. Was it possible that the fair was being held in a different university and not this university where Can was studying?
I made a quick call to Pete.
"Pete," I said, trying not to sound worried, "are you aware of any university fair going on anywhere?"
"No, Tin, why do you ask?"
"Well, it's just that Can was supposed to be at a university fair today with Good but it's not being held in our university so it's got to be in another university," I said.
"Hold on, Tin," said Pete, "let me ask Ae. He's here with me right now."
After a short wait, Pete got back to me, "Tin, I was told by Ae that there is a fundraising fair going on right now at the university where Good's sister is studying."
"What's the name of the university?" I asked trying not to sound upset.
After another short wait Pete got back to me and gave me the name of the university.
I thanked Pete and cut the call and then instructed my driver to get directions to the university from the car's GPS so that he could take me there.
I refused to entertain any suspicions against Can. It was my fault that I did not ask him to specify which university was holding the fair. It was possible that he had just forgotten to mention where the fair was taking place. I had no reason to suspect him of cheating on me.
I hoped that by the time we got to the university the fair was still going on so that I could find Can. If by the time I got there the fair was over then there was a chance that our cars would pass each other without us meeting.
My driver informed me that the university was almost an hour's drive from where we were. I estimated that by the time we got there it would be something like half past four.
I kept my fingers crossed and hoped that the fair grounds would still be open when we got there.
We had to stop to get a parking ticket that we would pay for later on our way out because I was not a student in that university.
I asked my driver to accompany me inside the fair grounds in case my bad leg acted up and I needed someone to prop me up.
We bought two tickets at the entrance. The student ticket seller eyed us curiously. She was probably wondering why we were coming in so late. She informed us that the fair grounds were going to close down in an hour. I told her it was okay.
My driver and I went inside and started looking around for Can. I knew that it would be like looking for a needle in a haystack but I was determined to find out one way or another just what was going on.
I happened to look up at the ferris wheel that had stopped with passengers still inside the individual coaches. I instantly recognized the blue and green striped shirt of Can. He was inside the coach that was midway up. Good was inside the coach with him. There was a young lady with them talking animatedly with Can and when the coach jerked just before moving, she hang on to Can and Can placed his arm around her protectively.
I instructed my driver to bring me back home.
