Third Person POV
Suddenly Tin was on the floor.
Mr. Medthanan turned to his son, grave concern written all over his face. He thought that Tin had fainted but he was kneeling on the floor, his face grimacing in pain.
"Tin! Get up! You're hurting your bad leg!" his dad cried.
Tin ignored his father and started yelling.
"Cantaloupe! I'm begging you on my knees!" his voice cracked from deep emotion, "please forgive me for thinking wrongly of you! Please! Open the door and talk to me! I'm really, really sorry for what I have done!"
Suddenly Mr. Medthanan was on his knees as well. Before he could say a word, the door opened and Can's eyes opened wide.
"Mr. Medthanan, sir! No, please don't do that! Please stop kneeling!"
"I'm not getting up until I hear you say that you forgive my son!" said Mr. Medthanan stubbornly.
Fuck, thought Can, this father and son team was the most drama-inclined and stubborn pair he had ever come across.
Can still had a good mind not to forgive Tin but when he saw how Tin was struggling to stay on his knees and clutching his bad leg, his heart melted.
Can helped Tin to get up. Tears were flowing from Tin's eyes. Can didn't know if it was because he was in so much physical pain or because he was truly sorry for what he had done. What Can didn't know was it was for both reasons.
When Tin was finally on his feet, he hugged Can and Can hugged him back.
Can felt a tug on his pants. He looked down. Oh, shit, he had forgotten that Mr. Medthanan was still on his knees waiting for Can to say that he forgave Tin.
"Tin, I forgive you." said Can, loud enough for Mr. Medthanan to hear.
"Are you saying that sincerely, or just for my father's benefit?" asked Tin.
"Shut up already, son," said Mr. Medthanan, "my knees are hurting me already. Help me to my feet."
Both Tin and Can helped Mr. Medthanan to his feet.
The trio made their way down the stairs, Can helping Tin as he limped down the stairs.
"I will contact my lawyers to finalize the marriage contract tomorrow," Mr. Medthanan announced as he reached the bottom of the stairs.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa," said Can's dad, "I haven't given my consent to Cantaloupe yet."
"Dad," said Can, "I wish for our marriage to go through. Please don't stand in the way of Tin's and my happiness."
"Mr. Kirakorn," Mrs. Medthanan spoke up, "please forgive my son for his stupid assumptions. He can be very stupid sometimes, but if he and Can truly love each other, they will be able to forgive each other's shortcomings."
"Dad," Lay piped up, "P'Can isn't perfect himself. Let them get married already."
"Shut up, Lemon," Can's mom scolded her daughter.
Suddenly there was a buzz at the gate. Lemon went to open it.
When she came back, Matt, Tin's home health aide, stepped in and bowed to everyone. And then to Can's big surprise, P'Wan and Good also stepped in.
"What's going on?" Can asked, wide eyed.
"I'm here to bring Tin's pain pills," he said, "he is supposed to be taking them at this time already."
"I didn't know that he was still in your service," Can turned to Tin.
"My parents hired him for a few more days, just until I can walk without limping," Tin explained as he took the bottle of pills from Matt.
Everyone turned to P'Wan and Good who were still standing by the door.
Good moved forward and handed Can a box. It smelled really good.
"You forgot this in the car," said Good, "it's the box of tiramisu cake that you bought from the Italian food booth."
"Oh yeah, thanks so much, but you didn't have to come to the house just to give it to me. You could have just kept it for yourself," said Can.
"P'Wan insisted," said Good, turning to his sister.
"Mom, dad," said Can, "this is P'Wan, Good's older sister."
"Did you say 'older'?" Tin couldn't help butting in.
"P'Wan, this is my mom, and this is my dad," said Can, and then he turned to Tin, who was pinching his arm, "and this is Tin, my fiance."
P'Wan's eyes grew so wide that they looked like they would pop out of their sockets.
Good quickly moved forward and grabbed Tin's hand.
"Congratulations, buddy! Can, I will not speak to you for years and years if you don't get me as your best man," said Good, looking so relieved and happy.
P'Wan also moved forward and congratulated Tin and Can.
"Tin," she said, "if I find out from my brother that you ever caused Can any kind of heartache, I will find a way to kill you."
"How about if he was the one who caused me a heartache?" Tin countered.
"He can always come running to me," replied P'Wan, winking sweetly at Can.
"Not in a million years!" everybody jumped at Mr. Medthanan's booming voice.
