Third Person POV
When Cantaloupe's gate buzzed, nobody wanted to move to open it.
It buzzed one more time and when everyone ignored it, Cantaloupe's dad's phone started to ring. It was Mr. Medthanan. Can's dad refused to take the call.
"My family and I are outside your gate. Would you please let us in?" Mr. Medthanan had to resort to texting Can's dad.
"Lemon, open the gate and let them in, and you, Cantaloupe, go upstairs and stay in your bedroom unless I ask you to come down, you understand?" Mr. Kirakorn instructed his children.
Lay stood up from the couch and made her way out the door while Can quickly climbed up the stairs, entered his bedroom and shut the door, locking it after him.
"Good evening, Mr. Kirakorn," Mr. Medthanan stretched out his hand to Can's dad and bowed to Can's mom.
Mrs. Medthanan and Tin came inside next, with Tin limping on his left leg.
Mrs. Medthanan went to hug Can's mom while Can's mom stood stiffly as Tin bowed respectfully to both Mr. and Mrs. Kirakorn.
"May I know where Cantaloupe is?" asked Mr. Medthanan.
"I sent him upstairs to his room," Can's dad replied gruffly.
"Is it possible for him to join us in our discussion?" asked Mr. Medthanan.
"No," said Can's dad, "I believe this discussion is between you and me."
"But we will be discussing Tin's and Can's engagement that is why I brought Tin with me," Mr. Medthanan protested.
"Can doesn't need to come down to join us," Mr. Kirakorn insisted, "he has already agreed to the cancellation of their engagement."
"He can't do that!!!" Tin and Tin's mom and dad exclaimed all at the same time.
"I think it is for the best," Can's mom spoke up for the first time, "it's not good for them to get married with Tin having the idea that Can cheated on him. Can explained to me and his father tonight that what Tin saw at the fair was not what was going on in his mind. He looked up at the ferris wheel coach just as it made a jerking movement to go upward, and the sister of Can's friend who was also there with them, grabbed him because she got scared. That was all there was to it."
"I totally knew it," Mr. Medthanan muttered as he climbed up the stairs, forgetting that he was not in his own house. Tin followed his father.
Both of them started pounding on Can's bedroom door.
"Hey! Both of you! Who told you that you can just barge upstairs and bother my son!" Mr. Kirakorn yelled at father and son from below.
Mr. Medthanan ignored Can's father.
"Cantaloupe! This is Tin's dad at your door! Would you please come out and talk to me?"
"No! Go away!" Can shouted from behind his door.
"Can! Sweetheart! This is Tin! I'm outside your door as well! Please come out and talk to me!"
"Go away, both of you, before I call the police for trespassing and harassment!" Can yelled.
Both father and son looked at each other helplessly, not knowing what to do next.
