MY PLAN TO find Vera went out the window after my third drink. Or was it my fourth? I honestly can't remember and quiet frankly, I don't give a fuck.
I was drunk, to say the least. I wasn't shit face drunk but I was progressively growing closer to the state. I was dancing with a few girls in one of the many living rooms to the blasting music, my blonde hair sticking to the back of my sweaty neck.
Levi finds me half way through my dancing marathon and pulls me into the kitchen where we somehow team up in a game of messy beer pong. Two guys from Madison High School were at the other end of the ping-pong table and we were currently annihilating them.
I pick the last ball up and kiss it as the crowd of drunk teens crowded around in baited breath. I line it up, closing one eye as I focus. I probably looked incredibly dumb but I didn't care. I throw it and it travels in an arc over the expanse of the table before landing in the red solo cup with a loud plop.
Everyone erupts in cheers as I throw my arms up in the air and the challenging team bitterly swallow whatever the hell was in the bottom of the cups. I wrap my arms around Levi's shoulders as he picks me up and spins me around. When my feet land safely back on the floor, I pull back, smiling like crazy as he cracks a small smile and stares at me with those big brown eyes.
I grab his hand and weave our way through the stinky crowd, spotting Penn and Noah who were talking on a grey sofa pushed up against a wall in yet another living room. This place had so many fucking living rooms I felt like I was shopping in IKEA.
I lie down on the sofa, resting my head on Penn's lap and my feet on Noah's. Penn plays with my hair as she glances down and smiles at me, her red hair creating a curtain of fire around her face. She was so pretty which she doubted sometimes and I wish she didn't.
She questions, "Having fun?"
"Fuck yes." I nod with a tired huff as Penn twirls a blonde lock around her finger. Levi takes a seat on the arm of the sofa behind Noah and stares out at the party with his normal expression; blank. It made me laugh just staring at him.
"Hey." Noah pokes my foot and I turn my attention to him, "Chase is here."
Instantly, I throw myself forward into a sitting position and glance around the party in a feral manner. Drunk Hayden was certainly feral in some sense.
"Where?" I question, trying to spot his familiar stupid head in the ocean of unfamiliar stupid heads.
"We saw him just before but he went looking for you and now we lost him." Penn explains as I stand up, stumbling over my feet and Levi, Noah and Penn all reach out to steady me.
I straighten my jumpsuit, determined, "I'm going to find him."
I make my way through the crowd, elbowing my way through because that's the only way I could move or I'd be swept away with the tide. I head for the outdoor patio, somewhere I haven't been since arriving, but instead I end up in someone's arms.
