Like any season, change was in the air and among those who noticed the falling of the leaves that would soon bring a harsh winter upon the city of London. It was a time of color that brought red, yellow, and orange in waves among the trees. The grass slowly died, turning a dim brown as the flowers wilted. And, despite the dying of summer and the dreadfulness that it may have brought with it, a woman of dark brown hair and bright hazel eyes seemed brightened by the changes.
She had stood by the window of her bedroom, staring past the ironed gates that only seemed to chain her to the only home she had ever known, as well as the rules she abided by. Such rules, was not to leave the gates of her gilded cage without another by her side, and even then she was not to be out for long. This young woman, known by the name of Maybelle and sometimes only May, was protected of her innocence and good virtue. Yet, something deep inside of her wanted to stray past the bars, and explore. After sixteen years of being locked away as if she were a princess in a castle, protected by a fire-breathing dragon, Maybelle wanted to know what was so wrong and evil that she could not leave to venture the streets of London.
The fire-breathing dragon held more resemblance to her own parents than anyone else she knew. They were the ones that prevented her from leaving, and if she would dare step foot past the ironed gates, they would be there to pull her back into them. There was no escaping them.
So, what happens when Maybelle finds a pair of loose bars in the back of the ironed-bar gate? Will she dare step foot past her castle surrounded by the fire-breathing dragon? Or will she stay and abide by the rules she has always known.
And what happens when a particular Lycan notices her bold move?
