Metroid: Project Dread

Chapter 5: Problems

{Samus' POV}

I stepped through the compound looking around carefully. I shot open a door and stepped through it. The troopers stopped for a minute behind me and I turned around 

"Sorry Ms. Aran, it's been a pleasure working with you but we can't risk you destroying these specimens. Of course then again you can't really beat them without the rest of your suit" One of them said laughing sealing the door behind me

I tried to open the door to no avail  and looked around the room. I saw on a pedestal in the middle of the room a missile tank. I approached it cautiously expecting a trap. I took the missile tank and was given my missiles back and the floor immediately collapsed under me causing me to fall down into the pit bellow. I hit the ground hard and the rubble landed around me. I heard a screech from nearby and looked to see an alpha metroid rushing me. I quickly jumped up and over the metroid firing a missile into its underbelly as it flew by causing it to screech in pain. I rolled into my morphball to get more distance thankful I hadn't lost that ability. I fired another missile into it and it screeched again. 

"It appears that the Metroids are making it further into the station Lady" Adam said and I fired another missile hitting it again. I said nothing in response to his comment "It would be best if you recovered your equipment quickly" 

The Alpha Metroid rammed me into a wall attempting to pierce my suit with its horns. I cried out in pain before firing a missile directly into its underbelly killing it. I fell to the ground along with its body wincing as I stood up. 

"I detect a weapons recharge room nearby" Adam said "It would be best if you recharged your suits energy and weapons before taking on other foes" 

I nodded walking into the room and stepping into the recharge room. My suits energy was restored along with my missiles and I pressed on walking to the next room. It looked like something tore it apart as it tunneled through and I sighed. I heard footsteps nearby and I walked towards them. I saw one of the federation troopers separate from the others entering the hall and looking into one of the holes.

"You." I said from behind him causing him to jump and turn around

"S-So it seems you're still alive" He said trying to act tough

"Where's the rest of your squad" I asked looking into the hole for a moment

"They went off to try and exterminate the space pirates in their bunker" The trooper said cautiously

"Are you going to try and kill me?" I asked him raising my arm cannon 

"N-No! That would most likely get me killed" He said

I nodded and noticed a pair of glowing yellow eyes in the hole. My eyes widened as I grabbed the trooper shoving him out of the way as the creature popped its head out roaring. I fired a missile at it causing it to screech in pain and breath fire at me. I jumped back avoiding the flames scanning the creature

"It appears to be related to Botwoon the eel-like creature you faced on Zebes" Adam said after the scan was complete "It appears to have adapted to this deserts climate and uses heat energy to breathe fire. The rooms nearby appear to be magma based generator rooms" 

I dodged yet another fireball firing missiles into the creatures head. The trooper recovered and started firing blasts of ice at the creature freezing  it's body into place as it tried to rush out and bite me. I fired another blast destroying parts of its body once they were frozen and it cried out in pain and fell to the floor. It's body started to glow and my eyes widened 

"Look Out!" I shouted but it was too late the trooper touched the body and it exploded sending me against the wall and rocking the laboratory.

I attempted to stand but immediately fell my vision fading my suit's energy low from that blast burning a hole in the ground. I was soon covered by darkness.
