Metroid: Project Dread

Chapter 6: Sound The Alarms.

{Trooper Commander POV}

We traveled down the hall slowly and carefully. We left Samus and told the rookie to go keep her occupied if she escaped. We were on our way to the bunker where the Pirates were held up.

"What could make them hide like this" The smartest among our group, Ethan said with a frown through his visor.

"Focus on the path ahead we'll take that life down to the bunker's floor." I stated pressing the button for the lift.

"You sure we can take the pirates with how many we have sir?" Ethan asked

"Of course we can, they'll be weak from the Metroid attack. That's why they sent out their strongest. So long as Samus keeps taking care of them? We'll be fine." I stated aiming down the halls while waiting for the lift.

"Sir with all due respect they're in a bunker with weapons that are fully charged I don't see ho-" Ethan was cut off by the lab rocking with an explosion. "What the hell?"

Suddenly the lights turned red and the hallways were light up with a red glow and a siren blared.

"Emergency. Emergency. Magma Core Ruptured. Evacuate Immediately" The sirens said over the speaker.

"Damn it. We have to save the specimens." I stated running towards the elevator with Ethan following close behind.

{Samus' POV}

I awoke to the blaring alert the Magma Core was ruptured. I slowly stood up and saw the body of the trooper I encountered nearby. As I took a step I felt a searing pain in my side. I must have broken a rib in the blast. The room was slowly heating up so I grabbed the trooper and carried him out of the room. I headed towards the elevator leading down to the core setting the trooper down inside it. I decided to leave him in there for protection, the elevators were reinforced from what I could tell.

The elevator landed on the floor of the Magma core, as I stepped out I sent it up and away from the core as to not cook the trooper. I quickly made my way through the rooms leading to the core before everything blew up. I stepped into the core control unit which thankfully was cooler thanks to the emergency cooling. I looked around the room and saw something on a pedestal. It was a small orb, I shot the orb causing it to disintegrate and reveal what was inside. It was a small orb with an X around it. I touched it and a flash of light came from around me.

I was returned to the Varia suit and I sighed in relief at the energy restoration. My shields were almost down due to the high temperatures damaging them as they tried to protect my suit. I walked to the control panel and turned on the emergency cooling system. I heard the sound of rushing water and saw on the screen the core room flooded with water. I turned around and started to leave the room before I heard a screech. I turned around hearing a sound from the ceiling

I looked up to see a Gamma Metroid on the ceiling. I quickly opened my missile launcher and waited. It pushed off the ceiling and began floating around and figured electricity from its head. I quickly jumped to the side and fired two missiles into its underbelly causing it to cry out in pain. It swooped down at me and fired electricity from its mouth. I barely had time to dodge as I put my arm cannon right under its belly and fired two more missiles. The Gamma Metroid screeched and flew up to the ceiling landing on it and scuttling into a tunnel it made in the damaged metal. I quickly gave chance to it.

I heard loud hissing and screeching from a nearby room. I ran in and found the Gamma Metroid killing some of the creatures in the room. I fired another two into its belly. It turned around and discharged electricity in an arc and I jumped to avoid it. I fired two more missiles into its belly. It cried out in pain and slowly started to disintegrate as it floated to the ground. I sighed as I walked out of the room and back to the elevator. I called it down and waited

{Trooper's POV}

I followed my commander to a strange room where all the creatures the pirates captured were kept. We found the blueprints for the Metroids and I download them onto the drive we kept just for this occasion.

"Got it sir." I said a little nervously

"Good work soldier. There's a promotion in store for both of us if we bring this information back safely." He said arrogantly

I started to leave the room and stopped noticing a Large hole, much bigger than anything. Almost three times my size.

"Sir... What is this?" I asked walking towards it.

"It looks to be the work of some creature, let's go investigate." The commander said as he walked down turning on his night vision.

We walked down the tunnel, there were meshes of web-like substances everywhere. When we arrived at the end a large room had been caved out. I was afraid to ask what did it.

"S-Sir what is this place" I asked trembling

"I have no clue...." He said Looking around.

We stepped into the center of the room. That was our first and last mistake. Right as he did something to his right opened its eight eyes. It stretched its neck out and in a swift grab, took my commander into its mouth and ate him alive. His screams were horrifying as I tried to run.

"No please no!" I said running towards the entrance.

I almost made it to the tunnel we came through when I felt it move. It walked towards me and fired a burning beam of plasma cutting right through my leg, cutting it off blood pooling from the wound. I cried out in both pain and horror as it reached out and grabbed me, that was the last thing I saw as the world went dark.
