Smelling the rot of a familiar monster, (Y/n) followed the scent without care. She jumped from her cover and ran in the direction the odor was strongest. "Hey, (Y/n)!" Noctis shouted from behind the crates before running after her.

"H-Hey, Noct! (Y/n)!" Prompto bellowed. The three remaining boys dashed after the two just as they reached a door and tried to open it. Luckily, the searchlights hadn't spotted them as they used the shadows to their advantage.

Noctis and (Y/n) were able to open the door with brute force. On the other side was a staircase that led downwards. Death stood at the top of the steps, looking down to the dimly-lit basement below. Taking the first step down, the Horseman slowly descended the stairs with the prince close behind. Prompto, Gladio, and Ignis arrived just as the two made it to the bottom of the stairs. "Wait up, guys!" Prompto wailed as he rushed down the stairs alongside his other two friends.

Once at the bottom, the three found Noctis and (Y/n) staring through a window. On the other side of the glass was a large, sturdy cage. Inside the steel prison was the source of the putrid smell. "A Wendigo..." Death murmured. "They caught one."

"Why the hell would they want to catch one of these things?" Noctis asked, glaring at the monster that was trying to escape its prison.

Ignis spotted a pile of papers on a nearby desk and he sorted through them. On the bottom sat a page with a picture of the Wendigo and what they plan to do with the other worldly creature. "The empire plots to manipulate the monster and place it under their command."

"There's no way the empire could achieve such a feat. Monsters from the Inner Sanctum cannot be controlled. If they could, the Daemon King would've not needed the Four Horsemen and the seal would still be intact," (Y/n) exasperated, crossing her arms while grimacing at the trapped Wendigo. She wandered over to the glass separating them from the monster and summoned her scythe. Before Death proceeded with her obligation, she faced the boys. "You four continue to search for the Regalia. I'll deal with the Wendigo."

"Understood," Ignis nodded.

"Regroup with us once you're done," Noctis added.

(Y/n) nodded and proceeded to smash the window with her blade. Glass shards cascaded to the ground as the boys left the basement in search of the car. Vaulting through the opening she made, the Horseman landed in the adjacent room and her nostrils were assaulted by the horrid odor. She winced slightly at the sudden attack to her nose as she slowly approached the monster. The Wendigo spotted her and its red eyes flashed with bloodlust. It used its thin, lanky arms to reach through the bars and attack, but (Y/n) was too far for it to reach her. She sighed at the disgusting sight, circling the imprisoned creature as it desperately tried to reach her.

"I swear-you putrid things get more disgusting the more I look at you," she groaned. Raising her scythe, she swung it down in a brisk motion and chopped off the Wendigo's arms. It cried out as blood spurted from the missing appendages, but it was unhindered by the pain of the fresh wounds. Now with its arms no longer an obstacle, (Y/n) walked up to the bars while dragging her scythe across the cement floor. The monster lashed out, trying to stick its muzzle through the bars and bite into her flesh. Blood dripped from its mouth as it growled and howled at Death.

Despised at the pathetic sight, the Horseman raised her blade and brought it down on the Wendigo's muzzle. Alas, it wasn't the monster's entire head and wouldn't kill it. Close as she could get to the cage without touching the creature herself, (Y/n) placed her scythe on the back of its neck through the bars. "When you're dead, there'll only be two left. Then, I'll be granted access back to the Inner Sanctum." Slowly, she pushed the sharp, bloodied blade into its neck. Even though the Wendigo was missing part of its face, it still tried to bite her.
