-Next Saturday-
I slouched on my seat as we waited for "Elizabeth" aka "Beth."
"Here she comes." I rolled my eyes and sat up. He hugged her and I guess she expected me to hug her but I just stayed in my seat and shook her hand.
I looked at her as I did this and she smiled. She's pretty. Damn her.
"So Elizabeth. How old are you?"
"I'm 38." Four years younger than my dad. "Do you have kids?"
"I do not." "What a shame.. do you want some?" She gulped. "I wouldn't mind having one. Or two." Uhhh I know Ive always wanted a sibling, but Ive wanted a full one, not a half sibling.
"Interesting... have you been married before?" She cleared her throat. "I have. Once."
"Why did you get a divorce?"
"Cordelia." "What?"
"Lay off on the interrogation a bit." I furrowed my eyebrows. "You wanted me to get to know her didn't you? How else would I get to know her father? Don't forget, whatever's going between you two affects me as well. Or did you already forget you have a child?"
"Cordelia." He said sternly. "Its okay. I understand Cordelia-" I cut her off. "Lia."
"I understand Lia. This is probably hard for you.. I mean your mother was a great woman."
"You knew my mom?" She smiled. "Well no, but your father has told me so much about her." I turned to look at my dad who just stared at me with a blank expression. That made me feel a little bit better. At least I know he still loves mom.
"But.. my last marriage just didn't work out. He cheated on me and had kids with another woman and I never found out until the child was 3."
"I'm sorry to hear that... so what's your profession?" Because I don't want anyone being with my dad if its just for the money.""Im a psychiatrist. I work at a rehabilitation center." Okay.
I continued to ask questions until I was comfortable. "Okay well bye."
"Where are you going young lady?" Asked my dad as I stood up. "Home."
"That is rude Cordelia." I ignored him and stepped over to Beth. "It was really nice meeting you." I opened my arms for a hug and she smiled as she stood up and hugged me. She's not bad. Could be putting up a front but I don't think so. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
I walked over to my dad and kissed his cheek as I hugged him. "She's okay.. I approve.. for now." I whispered in his ear. "Its best I leave you two alone to discuss your relationship and your future with me in it... you seem to make him happy.. thank you." I smiled before walking out.
I drove over to the Archibald's. "How'd it go?" Asked Alice. "WAIT! I wanna hear this!" Theo skipped stairs to get down quickly. All 4 of them listened and they were pleased to know that I think she may be a potential step mom.
"I'm glad baby." Smiled Alice. "You're not getting rid of me though. You're still mom #2." I joked and she laughed. "Good. Because I need a girl to pamper and do girly things with. By the way, I was thinking of getting a mani pedi after school on Tuesday? You up for it?" I nodded.
